Poppers , Walking Baits (except frogs) , Twitch Baits , etc.  are you using straight mono / co-poly OR braid + leader for top water ?

10 lb Sufix Elite. If i'm throwing to heavy cover, then it's bumped to 17 lb Sufix Slite.

Top water?  Man, that was so long ago, I don't remember...  lol.

 

For the ones you asked about I usually use 30 or 40 lb braid to a 10# or 12# mono leader.

Poppers, Shallow Cranks, and Floating jerkbaits: 8lb Sufix Advance Copoly 8lb during winter. 12lb during summer

I use mono - whatever mono goes on sale at Walmart every spring 17 or 20 .   (Except Big Game, Big Game is banned from my tackle shed). I believe Suffix was the last brand I bought and it has worked fine.  The catch is to use a heavy enough popper, around a half ounce or more.  For topwater baits, I  use the Lucky Craft popper or a Sammy if I need a walking bait, and they are heavy enough and work fine.   If I know I'm going to be using the same bait for a while, I will take the time to double up the line and tie a loop knot with the doubled up line.   Never had one of those knots break.

Straight 30 or 40lb braid.  My new go to braid is Power Pro super slick.

Straight mono, 15lb. McCoy Mean Green for poppers and props. 50lb braid for frogs.
