300+ to spend on new rod

I sold a couple rods to thin out the line up and looking to get a high end rod, looking for a good medium heavy. I was thinking about an IMX pro seeing that they are on sale at a local store right now but also curious to see what other options I might want to consider. Dobyns rods are hard to come by where I live.

Looking for an all around rod or something a little more technique specific? Lots of options out there

St. Croix Legend, Imx Pro, a used GLX or Orochi XX would all be good picks. Also can't image you would be disappointed with expride either.  Good luck on the hunt!

i would give my left nut for an imx pro so thats the way I would go. i would go with the MBR903c.

I'd like a more all around rod, I'd like to see what I a high end rod can do, I usually stick to the 150-200 range so I want to get as much use as I can before I sell the rest of the rods and go all high end.

The legends are pretty common around here, would you consider that a better option over the imx pro? I love the look of the grip and how they handle, but I also like the 1 piece cork handle on the imx pro.

Your price range is too rich for my blood.  Such a rod bought by me would be purchased used at a very good price.  I picked up a Witch Doctor Shaman and Kistler Helium 3 over the winter, but haven't used either yet.  Both are highly rated.  Check out Tackletour's reviews.  The ALX Zolo Toadface is a very versatile rod, but maybe you'd like to try an ENOX.  ALX rods get excellent reviews by most.

 

EDIT:  Many rate the Expride as good as most $400 rods.

The legend tourney is a nice rod and right up there with imx pro. Between the two I would probably go IMX but they are both nice.  I like the handle on SC better

I feel like a Megabass Orochi XX Diablo Spec R would be an excellent choice, or a Destroyer Daemos if you want to spend a little more. Loomis IMX and St Croix legend rods would also be excellent choices in your price range

According to Megabass literature, they felt the (Gen 1) Orochi XX Diablo Spec R was the most versatile in that line.

I just bought one to add to my two Braillists, one Flatside Special and one Swingfire.   I've only used it for chatterbaits and spinnerbaits so far but love it.

My vote for versatility in that price range would either be an Expride 7'2" MH or an Orochi XX Diablo...

I have one of those limited edition 863c JWR, 802c JWR, and  an original 843c MBR. All are very versatile rods.

Alex builds phenomial custom rods, might want to add ALX to your custom rod choice.

I'm really leaning towards an imx pro, it's pretty much the easiest to get my hands on and the reviews for it are great

I would get the IMX 843C or 844C. Both would be great rods and very versatile.

Thanks guys for the recommendations, I considered what your guys said and looked into each and where to get and how much it would cost to have shipped. I ended up contacting a buddy of mine with some connections to some jdm guys and ended up with 2 brand new rods. 2020 shimano zodias 172H and shimano expride 172MH. that are awesome and I cant wait to use them!! I posted some pictures in the tackle purchase thread.

have a 7'2 mh expride and a 7'2 jwr IMX pro. They are both fantastic, I find the grip/reel seat on the expride a bit more comfortable, both fantastic rods.
