We sure owe a lot to the legends of fishing who selflessly experimented and shared ideas for the love of fishing. What a great group of guys. Thanks for sharing!! 1 Quote
Chowderhead Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 Thanks for sharing the link - it was very informative. Ned sure likes to use the term “piscatorial”. 1 Quote
herder Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 That was a great read, I love the history and were indebted to Ned for documenting all this before it is lost. Here's a blurb from In-Fisherman from the October\November 2007 issue that might be interesting to you all. 1 Quote

Ned sure likes to use the term “piscatorial”. He has a lot of what we call "Nedisms". He's a very intelligent person, and his writing and speaking reflects it, but he has certain words he likes to sprinkle in frequently. His Midwest Finesse blog is "laden" <Nedism> with them. 1 Quote

Always called it the little rig but Ned rig is a good moniker. Elaztec has changed the deal. Never cared to push one product over another but the elaztec stuff is a huge game changer for this technique that I have been using for over 50yrs. 2 Quote

I have lots of hand poured very soft baits that float like a cork Quote

I honestly would only care if I could throw all my plastics together. Since Ned baits are cheap I am not too worried about using up some standard plastics. I have been know to stretch the Menace grub for probably a 15 fish per bait average. So I might be easy on baits or deal with lazy fish lol. The Zinkerz though is the bait I do use if I through Zman. IMO it has more movement than the TRD. I guess to someone on a budget how many fish per bait could matter, but too many of us are on good terms with the bait monkey;) Quote

I caught 30 white bass on the same curly tail grub last night, all big and aggressive. That’s why I was asking about them, my smallmouth waters are typically jagged rocks cliffs with crazy current and im usually going to break off before a soft bait ever wears out when targeting brown bass. I fish tubes a whole bunch similar to what ned describes in the video above but they are some hanging up sons of guns. I’m always stocked with 2-3 bags of strike king bitsy tubes when fishing smallmouth 2 Quote
