Been looking for a culling app for my phone since the RMP Right Cull app isn’t supported by IOS.

I stumbled across one called “Tournament Cull App” today and I think it will do a good job!

$1.99 seems worth it to me.

Maybe I am overthinking this but that seems like more work than just cull tags or something similar.  I am pretty sure i saw cull tags that have floats on them that allow you to spin the dial to show the weight of the fish.

Maybe - but I also have fun fishing tournaments with my buddies and like to keep track of the total weight of all the fish caught - so for me it’s a least useful for that. It also adds up all the weights.

If your in a tournament where every second counts then that is wayy more work than what it would be worth. A culling beam is way quicker than weighing fish opening your phone app inputting numbers and then waiting on the phone to process/calculate. Something that should take seconds will now take one minute plus. Depending on the technique your fishing that could add up to alot of casts by the end of the day

gotcha, that makes more sense then.  More of a friendly or personal competition kind of deal.

Again - mostly for fun fishing bragging rights applications

Hey boys!  It's supposed to be fun.  My phone stays in the glove box while I'm fishing, but that's just me.  I cull with floats and bad memory.  At least I would if I could ever catch five.

If this is fun to you and/or your friends, have at it !!

I got one of these, it can store your weights, calculate your total bag, and you can "cull" throughout the day. I use it for fun fishing, I'm not a fan of tournaments!

I use an app and I'd bet a 20 spot I can weigh and input the data faster than you can go through your livewell, pull your fish out and put them on the beam. Turn the scale on, clip them on, open the phone, type it in, bam you're done. Whole process takes 30 seconds, a minute if I'm taking my time, which I usually am since I never fish tournaments. I've got the RMP app the OP was talking about, maybe the new app is more time consuming, but the RMP is really fast and even highlights your biggest and smallest fish for culling time and instantly adds up your bag.

For me, this app is a substitute for the RMP app since I’m an iOS user. It is functionally similar.

I have the same scale and I like it a lot. It was also $50. It is very handy except for when you catch more than 8 fish if you are trying to total all weights. This is the reason I like the app, so I can easily tally all fish and cull digitally.

How do you know which fish to pull out of the livewell?

The floating dial-a-weight seems best for real tourneys. I know the OP does casual tourneys but for a real tournament you still gotta pull the fish out and find the lightest one.

Most culling tools come with a little card or board so you can write down which color is your small fish. This is great if you remember to do it and aren't culling a lot. I've not fished many tournaments but culling is always a huge hassle regardless it seems.

In a tournament you still have to handle the fish and it takes me no time to grab the float on a cull tag. If I never fished tourneys that phone stuff would be fine

I could be misunderstanding, but are you saying that you put a colored marker on each fish through the gills?

I suppose it could be hard to read the ones where you can turn a dial and enter the fishes weight right on the culling tag thing. I don't know, I've never used a live well.

This video explains how to use culling systems.

Yep, I knew I saw you (Glenn) talking about these before. I like how you have to push the button to change the weight so it can't change accidentally.

There's a 4 hour bass "shootout" every wed night at Lake Tulloch that I'd like to start doing. This is the system I think I will use. Thanks!
