Hello,

If you could choose one LB test line and you were tying that bad boy to everything, baitcasters AND spinning, what lb test would it be?

I'm not looking for company, just what type (Mono, Flouro, Braid), what color, and what pound test? It's the ONLY line you have for an entire season but you have unlimited amounts.

I'm interested to see the answers because I feel like we are going to get a wide array.

Me: Flouro, 12 lb, Clear.

Thanks,

T

One line choice for both is tough. As a compromise, I'd say 12 lb mono. Would work good on casting reels, not so much on spin reels

I agree with you. I use 12# mono on my bait casters. I was using 10# on my spinning reels but this year I went 8# mono on some of them.

I have the best luck with 8lb mono on spinning reels and 12 or 15lb Big Game on casting reels.

Pretty simple answer: I wouldn't.  6# for spinning, 15# for baitcasting, if I had to pick one.  Let's face it, the world isn't ending, and there's plenty of sizes available, so use what fits your fancy.  This feels like a mid January topic. :P

I'm with J.  I can't take part in this one.

Gun to my head I would pick 10lb. Mono. Something like Trilene XL or Sufix Elite.

It would be a little light for my casters and a bit heavy for my spinning but I could make do.

It would be very hard, at best, to pick one line for both. When I got my first spinning reel years ago, I spooled it with 15lb mono. Bad move. That stuff shot off the spool like a slinky. 8lbs or less for spin reels from then on. No.matter what type of line it is

Silly question, but I would say #20 Smackdown, For me it's #6 Tatsu for spinning gear and #12 Tatsu

for baitcasting.

15 Big Game mono

Runner Up: 10 or 12 lb mono. It's all I ever used for bass growing up.

20 lb. I have caught bass on 20 lb fireline in gin clear conditions on spinning gear. That would be the lightest I would want to go for braid on a baitcaster.
