Only caught one. On a purple Zoom Max 2 Texas rig. I batted o’fer on the new lures.

Bummer! They didn't bite my rat-l-trap either.  They didn't bite anything at all actually, I had to resort to weightless texas rigged senko. I didn't think they'd bite seeing as the ponds I fish are fairly pressured and everyone throws a senko, but sure enough I got a few. this was a 4.5 hour trip though so 3 is not saying much lol

I fished before the sun came up until after 11:30, so over four hours. Had that one bass swipe the WP twice and that one strike on the Zoom Max 2. No Senkos were harmed in the making of this disaster lol.

Had a cold front come come through the day prior. I’ll blame that!

Dang...but don't give up on the lipless crank or fluke. Fluke especially. It took me a long time to learn to properly work it in a way that they have a hard time resisting a bite. I recently learned to do short choppy rod pops (with lots of pauses worked in) and when done right it makes it dart and wiggle underwater very erratically. I was a little surprised how much more realistic it looks just slightly tweaking your presentation

@BrianMDTX, I would steer away from billed crankbaits in a mucky pond.  They will bring back all the gunk as soon as they touch bottom.  I would also steer clear of the jerkbait in such dirty water, but as mentioned above I would throw a lipless crank.  I'd tie on a ⅜ for bottom hopping in a shallow pond because it won't bury itself in the mud as quickly, and a half ounce for burning and covering water.

With the clarity you described, I'd opt for a bold color.  I like white to imitate shad in low conditions and chartreuse black back for gill.

I'm about an hour west of it.

Yeah, they’re muckrakers for sure. I do have a Rat-L-Trap lipless to try. Not sure of the color.

Temperature changes and heavy rain in Texas made yesterday tough at my local pond. Caught one on a swim jig and had a couple small hits but that’s it. Typically catch 8-12 in the same amount of time so it was disappointing.

Today, I’ve got a few different looks tied on:

- Chartreuse Craw Red Eye Shad Lipless

- Jackhammer Golden Shiner with a Glacier Rage Menace

- Ned rig...TRD in Perch on a lightweight Owner Blockhead (weedless EWG for Ned rigs)

I’ll start with the reaction baits and but the Ned is my ultimate fallback option.

I struck out yesterday but only fished for two hours. I’ll freely admit I thought it was going to warm up quicker than it did, and I was not dressed warm enough. It was 52° at 9:00 am with a good breeze and frankly, I got cold. Regardless, I got nothing on topwater, T-rig, wacky rig or a fluke. Of course, two hours later the sun came out and it warmed up, but I was into yard work by then. Plus, a strong cold front blew in the day prior so that was no help.

Pretty successful morning. Caught 5-6 dinks on the ned rig, 1 dink on lipless, and another 5 (4 of which were decent sized) on jackhammer. First cast of the day I missed a 4lber at the bank on the JH. Disappointing but set a good tone.

Crushed them at dusk! Caught about 12 in 90 minutes on a JH. Basically hit a school which is rare for the ponds I fish. One was 4lbs and a few 2 1/2 back to back. Caught 6 in about 10 casts right at dark which was awesome.

Lately it's been all a jig bite in the one I fish. It's about 150 yards long and 60 yards wide. Occasionally on a soft plastic or buzzzbait but I havent got touched on a small bladed jig

That's how it was for a pond I frequented until recently. It's got pretty cold already here, so that's probably playing a part. Plus, this place gets a LOT of pressure, so I tend to have to use something out of the ordinary. I'm now doing some research to see if there are some lesser-known ponds nearby that others won't know or care to fish at.

My most productive lure by far, though, is a stick bait. I use YUM Dingers because they're cheap. Jigs and frogs are next. Jigs always get me larger fish.
