Well a lot of us are limited to what and where we can fish because of Covid. It's almost like it's still Winter in a way, so here is another "Winter Style" thread about - not much.

My PB is from the bank since I almost always fish from there - for now. Seems like most fatties are in the deep water, except during spawn. Anybody can catch a 20 pounder from a boat, right? Just kidding!!! :)

Anyways, I'm hoping this is a category I don't completely suck in! My PB from shore is 5.25 pounds and is in my current avatar photo. The fish is the one on the left. Got this skinny post-spawn fish with a T-rigged white Super Fluke in Coyote Creek, Morgan Hill, CA, 2019. Barbless for what it's worth. I was extremely excited. My previous best was maybe 3 pounds.

I also got my runner-up, 4.75 pounds from the same spot a month later. Crankbait.

So far I'm winning the thread! Not for long, I'm sure.

What's your best from shore?

*** I feel like I've been kind of a jerk here lately. If so, I apologize. Too much stress. If I'm wrong however and I'm just being my normal "bit of a jerk" then please disregard.

I've got 3 6 pounders from the bank, can't think of one bigger than 6 that I've caught from shore but I don't bank fish a lot.

If you can get to where the big bass are you can catch them off the bank just as well as the boat. I bank fish and my biggest is just under 7 pounds, but I've seen 10 and 12 pounders landed from the bank.

10 pounds, 5 ounces.  Booyah Bankroll Jig in Money with a YUM Craw Chunk in Craw.  She's the fish in my avatar, I've been meaning to catch her again to see if she's grown since then.

9 lb 9 oz. In a hunting club pond in 06.  I think it was a black and red ribbon tail worm on 1/4 oz Texas rig.  Another club member pulled an 11lb fish outta there a year before I caught mine.

My bass all come from shore...I don't have a boat and when I go in a boat with my uncle and dad or some buddies we are usually fishing walleyes, perch or crappies. I have been at this bank thing for bass going on 20 years. Over the years I've probably caught 6 or 7 in the 7lb and up class. The biggest was around 8lb 10 oz if I remember correctly almost twenty years ago. Over the past 8 years I've caught the other 6 over 7lbs with 2 of them in the 8lb range. In fact last week I caught one about 7lbs on a chrome blue super spot lipless in a pond literally two minutes from my house.

No weight, but 23 1/2" on the Rapala fish ruler. 3 pounder?

That fish is in the 5 pound range. An 18 inch largemouth is usually in the 3 1/2 +pound range a 20 incher is typically right around 5 pounds around here I would say the one in your pic is between 5 and 6 pounds comfortably

First thing that came to mind when I saw her was Bubba from Forrest Gump.

I was just playing with the 3 pounder remark. No scale that night, just a ruler, so I'll never know. It was a toad, so good enough for me. It's always so hard to say, so I avoid speculating and I don't when I post unweighed catches. I weighed a fat 20"er last year that clocked in at 5.63, and lasts night's 19 1/2 weighed 3 1/4,  so I won't even try to guess an average weight.

7# 10oz from the bank at a private pond.  Public water bank fishing 5# 6oz.

My boat PB is 7# 6oz, so a few ounces lighter than my bank PB.  But, that was tournament lunker and won me about $400.  Solid fish for Western PA.

I've gotten 5's off the bank most years and a couple in the 6 range. Got my PB this year at 7lb 5oz on a scale. I've found timing to be extremely important and just knowing where those big ones tend to be when they get near shore.

Lotta beauties there, love the photos!

I'm still pretty new at this - seems like fish weight can vary significantly in fish of about the same length. I mean duh, but I look at 10 pounders sometimes and think, "That's my fish except after a bunch of big meals!" Mine was so skinny.

Amazing how much more a girthy fish can weigh than a long fish. I caught 2 from the same lake 2 months apart that were great examples. One was 24.5" inches long, but wasn't very fat and only weighed 7.51. 2 Months later I caught a 22" fatty that was about to explode that weighed 7.76. Depends a lot on the lakes I catch them from here too. One lake by my house, an 18" fish will average 3lbs. The power plant lake I fish during the winter, an 18" fish will be over 4 pounds.

Dwight Hottie's amazing monsta donk could probably swallow this one, but she was a good one for me! Hooked her on a bomb cast down the bank using a spinning reel. Zoom Fluke Stick. Hit as soon as the lure dropped. Fought all the way in then wrapped around a branch for what felt like an eternity. About 20 feet down the bank and out of reach. 8 lb mono! Uhg. Was sure she was a gonna break me off, but somehow after a few jumps she freed herself and I got her in. I look stressed out because I was! I was smiling on the inside though. And once again, no scale. Sheesh. 3 pounder? ?

Bass can stress you out that's for sure! ^^

Catches like the one you described are why I video my trips. I love having it all on vid.

I have a vid of my friend walking into the water trying to free a fish he caught that was wrapped in some underwater branches. He finally makes it to the spot and the fish breaks free. Funny stuff I can laugh at over and over lol!

That’s right! I caught a 26 inch bass last year , post spawn, that only weighed 7.6. That fish had a 9 pound frame on it, but was skinny as a rail.

Over the years I caught hundreds of bass out of this small pond and not one was 3 lbs except this 6 on a Gambler swing blade.
