Yes, the original reason I got these hooks is because I broke one of the original hooks after hooking my backpack. These were very close in size so I tried them out - they worked well. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted April 14, 2020 Super User Posted April 14, 2020 Nope... The standard hooks are my favorite and I use them EXCLUSIVELY for replacement. These are my favorite hooks...period. 2 Quote

Super User roadwarrior Posted April 14, 2020 Super User Posted April 14, 2020 Yes. The Vision 110 is designed to be fished on spinning gear and light line. 1 Quote
JediAmoeba Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 I fish it on light line but I use 20lb braid to an 8 lb leader with a baitcaster... I cant imagine jerking with a spinning reel. Quote

Even tho I'm always carefully, I can't count the amount of times it's gotten snagged on my hand or shirt just by making light contact with it. Quote

What's really nice is that you can kind of fish them in weeds without fouling immediately. You miss a few fish if they are just swiping at it but you can also use a heavier rod when around cover so it's a mixed bag. What inline singles do you use on the visions? I'm guessing you found some that don't affect the bait's ability to suspend? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted July 3, 2021 Super User Posted July 3, 2021 So, y'all bought one of the greatest lures of all-time and you want to modify it? Makes no sense to me. 3 Quote

Just trying to reduce damage to the fish in the waters I fish. There's been a few times this year where I've had trebles pierce either skin or gill of fish that I didn't want that to happen to. Obviously having 3 single hooks doesn't completely solve this problem- there is still the possibility that you end up hooking the fish multiple times with multiple single hooks, but it will certainly reduce the odds of a fish hooking itself again after it starts fighting. Whenever a fish is hooked somewhere outside the mouth, there's a non-zero chance that fish winds up dead because it suffered damage- maybe you hit the gills and it bleeds out, or its skin was pierced and dies to infection, etc . It's no secret really that trebles have a tendency to cause extra damage versus single hooks. Because I fish a fairly pressured river, keeping those fish healthy is more important to me than making sure I land every single one I hook into. What I hear from the saltwater guys is that the switch to singles doesn't even affect hookup ratio, and it may even be beneficial for keeping a fish pinned by keeping all the pressure on one hook instead of distributing the pressure across a few hooks. No doubt the 110 is one of the best jerkbaits available, but I'm assuming the fish hit it because they like the lure itself, not the hooks that it's wearing. I'll probably try switching out the hooks on one lure and do a side by side performance test to see how the bait floats and whether or not it retains the same action as one with trebles. If there is a noticeable difference and the bait's performance suffers, I probably won't make the switch on all of them. 1 Quote

CrankFate Posted July 4, 2021 Posted July 4, 2021 I’m no jerk bait expert, but I haven’t seen much interest in the MB 110. The LC has gotten me way more fish. It also has better hooks and split rings. The MB rings rust after one outing. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted July 4, 2021 Super User Posted July 4, 2021 Hmm... Must have just gotten lucky...I have 110s that are over a decade old without any rust. Quote
desmobob Posted July 4, 2021 Posted July 4, 2021 Mine are still rust free, too. The OneTen Magnums came with strong hooks, BTW. Quote

You know, I was about to post a picture, because my box is right here, but it looks like they are just black. I thought they turned that color after coming out of the box silver. I have no complaints about the hooks, they are extremely sharp. Quote
