Hello all,

My names Arthur and I currently live in the Fort Lauderdale area. I've grown up in New Jersey and lived in New Hampshire for a few years before settling down here for now. I've been fishing all my life and currently I try to get out at least a couple times per week. My top two favorite fish down here right now are largemouth bass and peacock bass. From the looks of it, this forum doesn't seem to have too much peacock traffic. I know they're not in the black bass family, but they're such an awesome fish. Anyway, I'm looking forward to my time here and learning a thing or two from everyone on the board. Anyway, tight lines everyone.

Welcome aboard, Arthur!

FWIW, forum rules prohibit posting your own YouTube channel.

Unless I'm wrong, basically, posting it is promoting it.

Video Posting Policy
We encourage members to post videos of their fishing trips or those that teach fishing skills and answer questions on the forums. Sharing of information is encourage.  Promotional videos, however, are a privilege for BassResource partners only.

Content must fall in line with normal BassResource posting rules, outlined on this page. Specifically, you may not promote your own YouTube channel and videos, or solicit likes and subscribers. That means the "Hey come check out my channel/video!" posts are strictly prohibited.

Other prohibited examples are videos that promote or link to your site, your channel, your product, your company, your tournament, or your blog. Watermarks will be considered promotional.

Thanks for that. The section seems a bit confusing since the very first line reads "We encourage members to post videos of their fishing trips ". Not sure how I would be allowed and encouraged to post videos of my fishing trips without posting my YouTube videos.

Ya, now I'm confused too as I've posted direct links to my Youtube vids, and I know A-Jay does the same...all his trip-vids are direct links from his Youtube channel...and there are others who do the same

Long as we don't specifically ask for people to watch them on our channel or 'beg' for likes and subscriptions, I think we're in the clear.

One of the mods or Glenn want to clear this up?

Hello Arthur and Welcome to Bass Resource ~

Thanks for the welcome everyone. Seems like a good group of people. I guess with my video getting deleted by a mod we have our answer. If someone could let me know how I'm "encouraged" to post videos of my trips, but not allowed to post my Youtube videos I'd appreciate it. Those two seem very contradictory, especially considering all the other Youtube videos I've seen other people post here.

Nailed it. It crosses the line into "promotional" territory at that point. So the videos that end with "Thanks for watching, please like and subscribe", no go. Can't overtly promote a product either. Obviously, if you're fishing a bait and want to talk about, go ahead. If every video someone makes they go out of their way to mention product "X", that's probably going to be viewed as promotional as well.

IMO, provide good content, people will subscribe.

OP, hopefully that cleared up some of the confusion and welcome to the forums!

Thanks for that clarification, Blue. I think the one's I've put up are 'safe', and I'll be sure to not cross the line.

Thank you for that. It did. I don't beg for likes or subs in my videos and I don't promote anything either. I'll be sure to keep this in mind in the future. I plan on posting some reports and if I made a video that day, I'll include it. Thanks for the welcomes everyone.

Hello and welcome to the forums. When I was in Ft. Launderdale in 1998 or 1999, they had a 3 story bar mall, is that still there? That was the craziest thing that I've seen.

Welcome Home! We're glad you're here.

Part of the equation is determining whether or not a member is here to help others and contribute to the forums, or is here merely to try to get more subs.  Those that are here longer and spend more time contributing to the forums and engaging others rather than posting their latest videos get more latitude as time goes on.

Hope that helps!

Glenn

Hmm. Not sure what you're talking about so I'm going to guess it's not lol. I've only been living in South Florida for 3 years though.

I don't recall where it was, other than it was across from a beach.
