I know many aren't fond of it but the Livetarget Frog Popper is a favorite of mine. It cast a mile and the way it sits in the water I can walk it quite well.

Well the "big" three have been hit (Pop-max, Yellow magic and Rico). I've been a long time fan of the Rapala Skitter pop. I do like the balsa made lures.

I like a good ole Rebel Pop-R. Not expensive and it walks good enough for me. They don’t have any good bluegill colors but otherwise I like it.

What does your fav popper do different than other poppers?

Any mods to your fav or stock?

To to answer the op what few popper fish I have caught was on Rebel Pop-R. I love poppers have over 2 dozens makes and probably 30 Rebels but rarely use them

Boy I wish I could catch something on a Pop-R.  I sold them all off except 3.  I bait monkeyed the hell out of them and I never even got a blow up.

Most companies make a popper type lure these days. The Rico and Yellow Magic are made to get the "spit" sound of shad breaking the surface. I've never used either, although some guys love them. My own favorite popper type bait is the Storm Chug Bug.

Chub Bug is my favorite pop R type popper that can be worked fast and cover lots of water.    For slowly fishing small pockets, I still prefer the low pitch bloop of the Hula Popper.  I fish it exactly like the instructions that came on the outside of the box of the first one I bought back in the 70's.  Cast out,let sit until the ripples disappear, then gently pop in place.  If I don't get a bite after a few pops, then I reel in and cast to the next target.

I’m gonna go with a Don Iovino Splash-it and a Megabass Pop-Max.

Mine is the chug bug. Pop R is a close second. Even a couple no - brands I have are good. Never tried a Popmax, Rico, Splashits, or really any poppers currently produced. I don't need any more,so I aint buying. I have 1 Heddon (spittin image) and I Rapala (whatever) that if you want them, drive by and i'll throw it at you...?

The Chug Bug is my favorite.  I have never tried any higher-dollar models because I've generally had great success with the Chug Bug.  It's not a popper, but another topwater I love is the Lucky Craft Sammy.

With all of the hubbub about the Pop Max, I may get one.  I can't imagine losing a topwater easily unless a muskie gets after it.  I can't remember the last time I lost a topwater bait.

I can, I put a 3600 box full of pop max, whopper ploppers, Megabass walking baits and others on the side of my truck. While I put  the rods away and then drove off. Disgusting feeling remembering two towns over. That was a $250 lesson.

I remember my 1st visit to J & T Tackle in Simi Valley because they had lures from Japan that were new to me. Daiwa TD Minnow, Micheal and Megabass poppers. The Micheal was the reason I went to J & T because they were the store that had them.

The Megabass proper was unique with it's open gills and $25 price tag. I bought 2 Micheals and thought the Megabass was too fragile with it's open gills.

The Micheals was a phenomial popper but tiny 1/4 size and caught lots a good bass on it. I went back to J & T a few weeks later and all the Megabass and Micheals and Daiwa TD minnows lures were sold outside and had to order a few. I caught my PB popper bass on the Micheal, 11 lbs. The Pop Max is good but for me no better than Iovono's Splash-It.
