Ivey Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 Went out for some after dark fun last night, a bright moon and decent bit made the short time out well worth it. 10 Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted April 11, 2020 Global Moderator Posted April 11, 2020 Never had much luck night fishing for smallmouth but I think it might be because our lakes aren't very clear. Seems like the lakes I hear with good night fishing for smallmouth have much clearer water. 1 Quote

Super User WRB Posted April 11, 2020 Super User Posted April 11, 2020 I don't recall the anglers name at the moment, he was a Smallmouth bass night angler who caught lots a big smallies. Skinny Harris who tied my hair jigs for years made me up some Smallmouth hair jigs he made for the his friend who's name escapes but caught several 8 lb+ smallies at night mostly on single spin spinnerbaits and hair jigs. The jig color Skinny made for me was called Fritts, a hair jig similar to David Fritts favorite crankbait color: brown back, chartreuse sides and red highlites. Tom Quote

Black bear hair is probably my best producer. I've caught up to a 7 pound 4 oz small on these jigs. The fish pictured came from Tim's Ford where I live but Pickwick Lake is my all time favorite place to fish and holder of My personal best. I tie my own jigs, have for years.
