Super User WRB Posted April 8, 2020 Super User Posted April 8, 2020 90% of the time I can gently shake a snagged lure free, never try to force a snagged lure out unless using Glenn's #3 "point the rod tip at the lure" technique. You see pro's slide the rod down the line to punch out a snagged lure, good way to damaged the rod tip. With a boat try different angles, it works a high % of the time. Lure knockers for me are a last chance method to recover a high value treble hook lure snagged in deep submerged tree. Flipping or pitching the lure is going to be a jig, T-rig or punch rig with single hook in shallow water, shouldn't be too difficult the free the snag unless you are back seating in a tournament and can't go in a get it. Super User king fisher Posted April 8, 2020 Super User Posted April 8, 2020 I put on a pair of gloves you can buy ones made especially for fishing, or just get a thick pair of work gloves. Then take a couple raps and pull quickly the line will break, or the lure will pop free. Braid doesn't stretch much so most of the time the lure wont come flying like a bullet back, but it can so get ready to duck, wear glasses and hat. Quote
