Super User Mobasser Posted April 6, 2020 Author Super User Posted April 6, 2020 Thanks for all replies here. The main reason I made this post, is my grandson and I are going to night fish together. We're going on a small quarry lake, electric motor only. We have good PFDs, lights, etc. I think we'll stay with single hook baits also. I'm excited about going again, and I would like Aiden to experience night fishing for bass. As has been said, it's a whole different world at night. Being safe is the #1 priority for us. 1 Quote

Things just look completely different at night and if you've got your head down fishing and running the trolling motor for an extended period of time, you can turn yourself all around without realizing it. I've done this numerous times, especially on a bigger lake. The direction I thought I had to go to get back was not the right way. GPS is key in this situation. Just follow the trail you made on the way out there back to the landing. Quote
Super User scaleface Posted April 6, 2020 Super User Posted April 6, 2020 One night I couldnt figure out why they turned the lights off at the marina. I was looking the wrong direction . Then I took off the wrong direction . When I started seeing standing timber , I knew my sense of direction was out of whack . 1 1 Quote
Guitarfish Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 When I used to fish at night I used Jitterbugs and 10" worms. Never had a problem other than a beaver that used to come up and slap the water and scare the beejeebers out of me. Why anyone would use a white light and be night blind for even 30 seconds doesn't make sense to me. And shine a white light on a big bass you are getting ready to lip, see how that works out. Red light is perfect. And a head net for skeeters. Quote
