Still over 3 weeks to Bass season opener here.

Is Minnesota different?  I mean, bass season isn't "in" here but that doesn't mean you can't fish for them...

If the water patrol catches you targeting bass when the season is closed - it's at least a fine - could be up to major cash, some time in the county jail, loss of fishing privilege for at least that year...maybe more.

I was out for three hours this morning - water patrol checked me twice...different boats (they got about half a dozen)...luckily all I had was my UL rig and my two ML rigs - and nothing but panfish lures and a container of worms. Today was mainly a test of new systems/mods on the canoe. Few small sunnies (2 bluegill, 3 pumpkinseed) and an accidental bass about 13" long.

UPDATE: First bass of 2020 was caught tonight at my local pond, smoked a senko right in front of me and two other bass that were on a bed.

Out yesterday testing this year's canoe mods and tossing small lures for panfish. Bass season isn't open, but caught a few incidental dinks, including this one.

It's my third one in three years - most comfortable one I've had. Two large pockets and two clip-bases. Have my small pliers on a retractable 'badge holder' on the left side (seen partially behind my left hand), line cutter rigged the same on the right.

PFD goes on before I climb into the canoe, doesn't come off until I beach it.

Only caught a couple, and I wasn't really trying.  Just out for a walk at a local pond.  We're expecting some kind of snow storm this weekend.

Caught my first bass this year on January 1 and since then I have caught several nice bass and other species of fish. With what's going on now we all should be very grateful for every day we get to go fishing.

We've had a lot of rain here in the Ozarks over the last few weeks, including a slobber knocker that left me without power for three days consecutively.   The rivers have been four or five feet above their flood stages, but I've been able to pull five or six 2.5 lb smallmouths out of the water over that time.

Its been tough going with more shutouts than successes but I've perservered.  Better luck to you in the next couple weeks brother.

It’s going to be in the 40’s if not 30’s tonight. These super cold nights kill the small ponds I fish in. These fish are coming out of hibernation straight to the beds this year. I have not seen any fish activity anywhere. Haven’t even attempted it yet.

I"m located in central Florida, so I'm probably unsuited for this thread.

Lois & I fished until mid-March, and after a 6-week hiatus, our boat ramps have been reopened.

As it happens, mid-May is the peak of our soft-plastic season, and the hottest topwater bite of the year

It snowed again yesterday.  Supposed to get up in the 70s this weekend.

LOL I must really stink at this...I've done a few long hard days on the river and I've got 4 smallmouth (not all made it into the boat) and one N. pike.

Went out to a small local lake yesterday. Water was 56 F and the shallows look dead...no life at all that I can see. I had a couple of nips on my swim jig that felt like a bluegill tugging on the trailer on the deep side of the weeds. I don't see any sign that anything has moved up yet.

I'm going back today with a different strategy. I added a rod rigged with a shaky head and one with a drop shot. I'm going to use the electronics and probe the deeper water outside the weed edge.

Caught my first 1/2 along with many more.  I cheat, I'm in FL.

I picked up a chunky meanmouth the other day on a swimbait.  Not the size I wanted but any tug to the line is always appreciated right now.

I did have two muskies rise up on spinnerbaits but they wouldn't commit.

No stripers could be found
