BassAssassin99 Posted April 2, 2020 Posted April 2, 2020 What are some of your favorite Rapala lures whether it be discontinued or currently available? What color patterns do you like? Quote
NJBasstard Posted April 2, 2020 Posted April 2, 2020 The Rapala Crankin' Rap CCR-3 and CCR-5's are my favorite squarebills. Think they got discontinued about 3 years ago. I'll have to source some pretty soon since my supply is running low. 1 Quote

(I think that's the name) Red crawl Regal shad Yellow perch I've had success with all, but the first 3 are my favorite for the waters I fish. Quote

When they were discontinued I stocked up . Some of the best cranks I ever chucked . I like the red craw for night fishing . Shad colors work great during the day . My all time favorite Rapala are the Fat Raps . I have about ten . They just work well going down the bank junk fishing .Colors I like are gold foil , perch , crawdad , and silver foil . 3 Quote
Charlie19851987 Posted April 2, 2020 Posted April 2, 2020 My over all favorite Rapala crankbait is the Shad rap Silver / black back 4 Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted April 2, 2020 Super User Posted April 2, 2020 Ratlin' Rap, DT-4, Shad Rap 'Natural' colors - perch, bluegill, etc 1 Quote
Super User Cgolf Posted April 2, 2020 Super User Posted April 2, 2020 Shadow Raps This spring, the floating, jointed, and countdown minnows have been working for trout so I will give them a go again for bass. Rippin Raps 1 Quote
gilkeybr Posted April 2, 2020 Posted April 2, 2020 My first really big bass was caught on a Firetiger Glass Shad Rap size 07. That lure will always hold a special place in my heart. If i'm throwing a shad rap profile bait, it will almost be a GSR. 1 Quote
Fishingmickey Posted April 2, 2020 Posted April 2, 2020 The balsa Shad rap size 5 or 7, The balsa Fat rap for shallow cranking. A white Skitterwalk for walking the dawg topwater action. Probably most missed is the Chartruese backed skitterpop. I just absolutely got slammed on it fishing it in the rivers here! Fishingmickey 1 Quote
basser27 Posted April 2, 2020 Posted April 2, 2020 Original floating rapala. Black/silver and black/gold. I don’t use this lure nearly as much as I used to, I guess because of all the other new fancy stuff that has been developed. This lure has caught me many bass over the years. You can fish it many different ways and it works year round 2 Quote
Vilas15 Posted April 2, 2020 Posted April 2, 2020 I've caught smallmouth, walleye, pike, and even a musky on a #6 rippin rap 2 Quote
ABart61 Posted April 2, 2020 Posted April 2, 2020 The smaller sizes of the flat rap. I loved the hard rolling action when used as a shallow jerkbait. The smaller sizes (06 and below) crushed bass and crappie on lakes with smaller forage. 2 Quote
Jaybert Posted April 2, 2020 Posted April 2, 2020 Husky Jerk HJ12 in gold/black back. Smallmouth, walleyes and pike. I have an old one just covered in teeth marks and scratches that still produces. Firetiger and clown have their moments as well. Lakes I fish have lots of perch but I’ve never had much luck on the perch colour for some reason and can’t explain it. 1 Quote
Super User soflabasser Posted April 2, 2020 Super User Posted April 2, 2020 Rapala X Raps are very good for multi species fishing. 4 Quote
Super User DitchPanda Posted April 3, 2020 Super User Posted April 3, 2020 Size 5 shallow Shad rap...I also do very well with the shallow shadow raps 1 Quote
BASS302 Posted April 3, 2020 Posted April 3, 2020 Fat Rap FR07, silver foil. Countdown CD09, silver foil. Shad Rap SR07, SR08, silver foil. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted April 3, 2020 Global Moderator Posted April 3, 2020 #5 shad rap 1 Quote
Chris186 Posted April 4, 2020 Posted April 4, 2020 Deep Down Husky Jerk, I have caught more fish on them than all the other brands I have tried combined. Believe me, I have tried a lot of different jerkbaits, always end up throwing the Husky Jerk. The deep one though, I don’t like the regular one ??♂️ 1 Quote
Guitarfish Posted April 5, 2020 Posted April 5, 2020 I love the suspending Husky Jerk 8 for bass. But I troll the jointed 12 for big trout. Black / silver usually. I did buy some countdowns for this year, but well, no fishing allowed here. 1 Quote
Jmoney402 Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 Scatter Rap Crank, which is discontinued. Really cool random hunting action and the faster you reel the wider it darts out. It also came in the shad body profile, the "scatter rap shad", and came in "deep" versions. Quote
Black Hawk Basser Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 I use #6 and #8 X Raps for river smallies and walleye, in Olive Green and Pink. #8 and #10 Husky Jerks for bass/walleye in my local lake, in Silver and Firetiger. #5 and #7 Shad Raps in Regal Shad and any of their craw patterns. Here's a chunk that my boy and I got trolling around on Tuesday with a jointed Shad Rap. 1 Quote
