Super User MickD Posted April 1, 2020 Super User Posted April 1, 2020 Is there a better mapping card to get than the Humminbird Lakemaster for a Helix? Quote
Super User jbsoonerfan Posted April 2, 2020 Super User Posted April 2, 2020 If you are interested in checking out Navionics you can go to their website and view the lakes you want to. 1 Quote
Russ E Posted April 2, 2020 Posted April 2, 2020 I have lakemaster and navionics for my helix. lakemaster is much more accurate. Navionics covers more lakes. The only reason I have Navionics is the local power plant lake, that I frequent often, is not available on Lakemaster. 1 Quote
Super User slonezp Posted April 2, 2020 Super User Posted April 2, 2020 As far as features, Lakemaster is designed to work with Humminbird graphs and you can access features like depth offset, shading, shading specific depths, shallow water warnings, etc. and if you have Ipilot link, you can utilize the follow the contour feature. If the lakes you fish aren't covered on the Lakemaster cards but are covered on Navionics, then Navionics is the obvious choice. Quote
Super User MickD Posted April 2, 2020 Author Super User Posted April 2, 2020 I had a finder problem, and in the process broke my flimsy Lakemaster micro SD card (why Humminbird would use only micro slots in their newer finders is beyond my comprehension), so wanted to get opinions on whether to replace. I didn't think the Lakemaster was much better than the base map. There is a hump in Lake St Clair that was the only thing that it had that the base map didn't have, IMHO. I'm thinking I will not replace it with anything and rely on Auto Chart + the base map. thanks to all for your comments. Quote
