Without the wire, it's only going to be a matter of time before I end up donating a rat to the Pike Gods. ? A-Jay Thanks man. Awesome. Hopefully, the Pike will take it easy on you. I'm gonna try the rat again when I make it back out...been raining like crazy since Sunday night and no sign of stopping till the weekend. I've thrown the 40 on a powell 735 (heavy) with 50lb braid, not alot of luck yet. 1 Quote

In a Perfect World ~ Late summer into early fall when the big pike come shallow again, I do believe a few U-Boats will take a poke at this rat. Hope I have the video running because that strike will no doubt, be Atomic ! A-Jay 1 Quote
Super User BrianMDTX Posted June 17, 2020 Super User Posted June 17, 2020 Sometimes you can't catch a bass to save your life on anything- artificial or natural. Sometimes you could place a hook in a wad of Dubble Bubble wrapped in foil and catch one. I have to admit- rat baits just look humorous. But I have seen real rats swim and they do indeed leave a big wake, so I can see how these would produce. I may have to give one a try. 1 Quote

We may have to send the monkey brothers over to make you see things correctly! Just get one and you can name it bull or Johnny ? I figured on getting the 25 and 50 to complete the set... Then start filling in with all the colors ? Its true, the monkey on my back is relentless or I'm a hoarder idk 50 size rat weighs 2.5 oz with treble hooks. Your Swimbait rod with BG mono is perfect IMO. Tom 1 Quote
Big Rick Posted August 5, 2020 Posted August 5, 2020 @A-Jay Any further fishing adventures with the rat? Quote

Negative ~ but I haven't forgot about them. Been fishing mostly deep brown bass. Didn't think I could hang one on a drop shot. Top water should be coming back into play for me in couple of weeks. Plan on giving the rat pack some time to show me what they've got. A-Jay 1 1 Quote
Primus Posted August 6, 2020 Posted August 6, 2020 I thought I would chime in on the 25 size, my understanding is that Bill Siemental designed this to be fished like a crank bait which is why it almost impossible to wake it. 1 Quote
Smells like fish Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 Bought big black 50 rat this evening. Came with red or black tail, what's your best tail on black rattus? Daddy rat, Mrs Rat and Rat jr. @JediAmoeba did you ever get a Johnny rat? Think that's what I saw Matt Allen with. What's the price for one? Quote

Smells like fish Posted June 28, 2021 Posted June 28, 2021 Is anybody doin any ratting? A-Jay have you served up any rat meat to the fish recently? As y’all saw in the fishing report I’ve been catching lots of small guys and my biggest on the rat so I’m riding the rat high currently and excited for an evening bite. Looking to see some rat caught bass pics you guys are catching. Quote

Smells like fish Posted June 29, 2021 Posted June 29, 2021 I got to try the size 50 for the first time this evening. On the first cast as soon as it landed I had my biggest rat blow up but no hook up. Ended up catching 3 small guys and then went to a swim jig for 3 more. I will go back to the size 40 during the next session. I’m loving that rat twitch! 1 2 Quote

Might give you the action you need, if you're worried about break strength might need to upsize the wire one or two. If I remember, I'll try it out soon. scott Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted June 29, 2021 Author Super User Posted June 29, 2021 I have yet to catch a fish bigger than the bait. Pretty sure they're out there. So I'll keep trying. Fish Hard A-Jay 3 Quote
