Super User Bird Posted March 31, 2020 Super User Posted March 31, 2020 This isn't that difficult to understand, actually learned in 1st grade. The Virus is like a fire which requires a fuel source, we being the fuel can eliminate the fire by voluntarily removing ourselves. 3 1 Quote
Super User scaleface Posted March 31, 2020 Super User Posted March 31, 2020 Its best to not go fishing . Hand sanitizer burns the heck out of bass thumb . 4 Quote
Super User J._Bricker Posted March 31, 2020 Super User Posted March 31, 2020 Enjoy your time on the water my friends if you’re able to get out there and be safe doing it. Just got a Emergency Alert text message.... Shelter in place has been extended until May 3rd. Be well ? 3 Quote
Super User Koz Posted March 31, 2020 Super User Posted March 31, 2020 All state parks and waterways are now closed in SC. The Governor just shut down all non essential businesses (I hope my son likes the haircut I’m going to give him). We’re away from home now taking care of my parents. They live in a private community with hundreds of lagoons and for now we can still fish those, but it would not surprise me if they shut that down soon. 1 Quote

ike8120 Posted March 31, 2020 Posted March 31, 2020 To finish my day off my uncle passed. Now I have to attend the funeral via zoom. Because of the travel restrictions. For you that defiant please take this seriously. I would rather miss some fishing then missing my family permanently. 6 2 Quote
Way north bass guy Posted April 1, 2020 Posted April 1, 2020 Here in Ontario, as of last night we have all our public spaces closed ( parks, sports fields, beaches, boat launches etc. ). Thought I was gonna get the boat out this weekend, which would be about a month earlier than last year, but by the looks of things I guess I’ll have to pull out the ultra light rods and go for a hike in the woods with my son for some brook trout for the foreseeable future. Sure does suck, but I guess it’s better than getting more people sick. 1 Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted April 1, 2020 Super User Posted April 1, 2020 Well, unless something changes - I can still go out shore-fishing. Canoe fishing is in the air until things settle down, just because of home situation. MN Executive Order 20-20 has this provision. "Minnesotans may leave their residences only to perform any of the following activities, and while doing so, they should practice social distancing: Outdoor activities, such as walking, hiking, running, biking, hunting, or fishing" 2 Quote
DanielG Posted April 1, 2020 Posted April 1, 2020 Well, Maine has free fishing licenses and waived boat registration.... But on Thurs. Day after tomorrow we have a stay at home order. Since I don't think being pulled over with a boat trailer will cut it I'll launch the boat tomorrow and tie it up to the dock. A bit earlier than I wanted to but it's now or never. Weather report says 42 degrees and 10 mph wind tomorrow. Should be fun. The ice went out a couple of days ago. It's a long slow ride. 1 Quote

Super User FishTank Posted April 1, 2020 Super User Posted April 1, 2020 This is the guide line we have in Indiana as far as outdoor activities go..... State parks remain open, but welcome centers, inns, and other buildings are closed. Families will be able to go outside and take a walk, run or bike ride, but they should continue to practice social distancing by remaining 6 feet away from other people. Playgrounds are closed because they pose a high risk of increasing spreading the virus. I have been fishing a honey hole located behind a local Target and I have seen no one there as of yet. I think it's safer to fish than it is to go to Target. But for me, I think being practical and avoiding large groups is just common sense even if that involves a large crowd at a fishing dock, boat ramp or even a park. If you are out and see people gathered together have the state of mind that you need to be smarter than they are. In times like this I seek the wisdom of George Carlin..... "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.” “Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.” “Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that." 7 Quote
DanielG Posted April 2, 2020 Posted April 2, 2020 As I wrote before, not only has our Maine governor allowed fishing without licenses and without boat registration for at least the next 30 days, but as we increase in infections she has closed the state down to any but essential movement. But... I got another email letter today that basically says... If you're going fishing it's okay, just be good and don't infect anyone...... She's got my vote...for this and many other reasons of course. She's doing a great job all around. MDIFW NEWS: Fishing, Other Outdoor Activities, Are Permitted Activities Under Governor's Executive Order AUGUSTA, Maine -- Engaging in outdoor exercise, such as fishing, hunting, hiking, boating, walking, running, are permitted activities under the executive order issued by Governor Mills yesterday, as long as people continue to follow social distancing guidelines. "Getting outside to go fishing, hiking, canoeing, scouting for a hunt, or other outdoor activities are essential to not only your physical health, but your mental health as well, particularly during these difficult times," said Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Commissioner Judy Camuso. The governor and I continue to encourage people to get outdoors, but to do as close to home as possible and in strict adherence to physical distancing requirements. While it is important for your mental health to get outside, it is also important to do so safely. In Governor Mills' Executive order 28 FY19/20, it specifically states that Engaging in outdoor exercise activities, such as fishing, walking, hiking, running or biking, are permitted, but only in compliance with the gathering restriction in Executive Order FY19/20 and all applicable social distancing guidance published by the US and Maine Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:. Outdoor activities that are allowed include (but are not limited to) the following: Hunting, fishing, wildlife watching, boating, trapping, birding, canoeing, smelting, kayaking, fiddleheading, hiking, snowmobiling, and ATVing. 3 Quote
Super User Sam Posted April 2, 2020 Super User Posted April 2, 2020 Follow the rules no matter how much you disagree. Older folks are more susceptible to the virus than the younger crowd. However, it is the younger crowd that is passing the virus along to others, including older people and then older people to other older people and everyone to the medical professionals who are working overtime to help us. So the governor's proclamation means to stay inside and forgo fishing, biking, swimming, skinny dipping, hiking, running, jogging, walking, nude beaches, cook outs, walking the dog for a mile, etc. to be on the safe side. By sacrificing fishing until this is over is not asking too much from us. After all, we want all medical professionals to avoid the virus and we do not want to take the chance of getting the virus and then passing it along to others. 2 Quote
Super User jbsoonerfan Posted April 2, 2020 Super User Posted April 2, 2020 I just heard on the news that this is an "inhaled virus" meaning that it could be transmitted through breathing and not just coughing and spreading the disease through bodily fluids. It was nice knowing you guys when they decide to ban breathing Quote
