Do you mean like your buddy suggests you take his wife fishing while he takes yours fishing? No good can come out of this and will most likely ruin a friendship. He only suggested this so his wife can get GPS coordinates on her phone to all your secret spots....sneaky guy!

Do  you mean that bass fishing is at its height and the only way to go is down and then disappear?

Need your definition of "swing sport."

Probably won't work out well.... unless of course you've got a big fish.

Sorry, couldn't help it.

Ok I’ve been thinking about this since he posted it. I think it’s a typo. I think he meant “spring”. As in, fishing is best and most popular in the spring. That’s my theory and I’m going with it.

Answer:  No. Not for me. I fish all year (open water only) and I catch more (and bigger) fish in the summer. I also much prefer summer techniques. If I got to choose where to find fish I would pick buried under brush and docks so I can skip wacky worms and pitch t-rigs.

Aaaaaand...if that wasn’t a typo I just went on a useless tangent. You’re welcome.

I meant swing as in like golf and baseball and softball and hockey haha

all those sports require a swinging motion, and the better you get the more consistent and precise you can get with your shots which are = casts. While it may not require the same amount of athleticism as say golf or baseball, it still requires decent hand eye coordination and some power to make a good cast consistently.

Everyone of the best fishermen I know are ALL excellent casters. If you spend anytime casting around docks, you are well aware of how important accurate casting is to increasing your success. When fishing rivers, as I like to do, accurate casting is critical. If you can’t consistently get your bait to within a few inches of your target, you’ll come up empty a lot more often than you’ll have one of those memorable days. Every time I’m outfished by the guy I’m with, it’s because he hit more of the targets that hold fish than I did.

When fishing treble hook baits I "swing" the rod from left to right or right to left to set the hook.

When I use an underhand roll cast I "swing" the rod tip to get the bait to go where I want it, or close as possible.

When I cast sidearm or skip the bait I "swing" the rod to get the motion to cast the bait.

When I flip and pitch I "swing" the rod to let the bait fly into the air and enter the water with a soft touch.

When I want to send the bait as far as possible I "swing" the rod over my head towards the water.

When I go to the park with my grand kids I "swing" on the swings and hope not to fall off.

Lots of "swinging" going on in bass fishing and while at the park.

No, I don't think so. "Swing" sports generally use the whole arm and the upper torso, driven from the core muscles (or even the feet). Casting a freshwater rod mostly uses the wrists and forearm.

Surf casting is different. Yes, I would consider that a swing sport.           jj

Never heard of a swing sport. I don't believe there is such a thing. But if you made it up then I guess it's a thing now eh? Your term your rules. :)

I say no still. In football the QB swings his arm. Hockey you swing a stick or a fist, baseball you get a chance to swing every few innings and stand in the field most of the time. So not really enough swinging going on even in baseball. A team could win bunting, I wonder if that is a swing?

Swimming has lottsa swinging, or it looks like swinging. I think every sport may be a swing sport. Nah, tennis seems like a running and grunting sport.

Dude I need to catch a fish really bad :( My posts suck these days I'm sorry.
