gall Posted March 28, 2020 Posted March 28, 2020 Hey guys so I'm on the hunt for a new braid for my creek set ups. I'm looking for a hi vis braid in 10-15# range. What's everyone using? It seems everyone ans their brother males line now a days so I figured get choices here. Quote
Super User Darren. Posted March 28, 2020 Super User Posted March 28, 2020 Power Pro regular (yellow) in 10#, and SuperSlick 8 (yellow) in 15#. Like 'em both a lot. 1 Quote

Looks like that’s what I’ll go with ha the low vis green just makes it tougher in current to keep an eye on the line. I'll order some from bass for curb side pick p with some other stuff since the spring fishing classic isn't going on 1 Quote
WI_Angler1989 Posted March 28, 2020 Posted March 28, 2020 I've had success with Power Pro Superslick Hi-Vis. I've got some on my reel from last season. Fished it all year and it still has vibrant yellow. It's not quite as bright, but it more than suits my needs! I'm trying Seaguar Smackdown ths ywar too. Quote
Super User OkobojiEagle Posted March 28, 2020 Super User Posted March 28, 2020 Where's PowerPro made? oe Quote

LCG Posted March 28, 2020 Posted March 28, 2020 Been using kastking hi biz yellow for awhile now. Decent line for pretty cheap. Quote
waymont Posted March 28, 2020 Posted March 28, 2020 Yellow Power Pro original in sizes 8, 10, 15, and 30lb. it works great for me in every situation. I just tried 15lb Super Slick V2 on a light casting setup and it’s fantastic too. Quote

gall Posted March 29, 2020 Author Posted March 29, 2020 So it looks like I'm gonna probably go with the super slick v2 in 15#. I mean if my stradic can't handle that then I got big problems 1 Quote

You know that's what I thought would happen, but as of now, no issues at all. I have been a PP original user forever, and this V2 doesn't flatten out, so I haven't had any problems. I haven't caught any bass over 2.5lbs yet. I have it on a Curado 70, on a Kuying ML 6'8" rod, it's a crazy light , sensitive, and perfectly balanced setup. I can throw down to an 1/8oz jig head with 3" swimbait pretty well. 3/16oz head with soft bait is easy to cast. It's a great shakey head setup with this light braid. Quote

I’ve been contemplating going to 20lb high viz pp super slick to an 8lb yo zuri leader for 3/16 shakey with a 7” finesse worm. I have a Steez CTSV with a Helium 3 LMH that can absolutely bomb the rig. Just trying to get the confidence to try the light braid now. Quote
Fishin Dad Posted March 29, 2020 Posted March 29, 2020 I ordered suffix 832 in both neon lime and hi vis yellow in 10 and 15 lb. for some spinning rods. As I get older, it is harder to see line. I really hope this helps seeing bites. I was hoping to see more people in this thread using this line. I usually like an 8 carrier braid (use a lot of 832 on many reels from 8-50 lb.) unless on a frog rod or maybe a Flippin rod where a 4 carrier cuts weeds a little better. I am more hoping the bright line doesn’t fade in the first two weeks and I can’t see squat again! Quote
Quarry Man Posted March 29, 2020 Posted March 29, 2020 I have 15 lb pline tcb8 on a reel and im not a fan, its yellow, has faded, seems to knot easily compared to power pro, and is not very abrasion resistant. Quote

I don't see any issue with 20lb SS V2. Try it out, if you don't like it you can put it on a spinning reel. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 29, 2020 Global Moderator Posted March 29, 2020 Smackdown Flash Green. 2 Quote
AdamT Posted March 29, 2020 Posted March 29, 2020 I’ve used the yellow Power Pro original and Daiwa J Braid hi viz. I use the power pro the most. Quote
Steve S Posted March 29, 2020 Posted March 29, 2020 Seaguar smackdown in 15 is amazing. It is way thinner than Other brands same lb line and I rarely ever get wind knots. I had been using suffix 832 10lb and was getting windknots a lot. Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted March 29, 2020 Super User Posted March 29, 2020 Fins, 832. Want to try Smackdown. Quote
Steveo-1969 Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 I always use hi-vis braid because I like to see my line and I have old eyes. I've tried LOTS of different braids and superlines over the years with mixed results. Some frayed, some didn't, some was thicker than others, some gave me terrible wind knots, some gave me none at all. The one thing that ALL the lines had in common is the more you fish with the line the more it loses it's color. If someone says they've had the same braid on their reel for a year and it hasn't lost it's color I assume that means they don't fish very much..... With all that being said I've been using Seaguar Smackdown Flash Green in 10# and 15# since January and I'm happy with how it fishes. The color has faded but is still fairly visible. Quote

Maybe I got a lucky batch but I've had the same 40# flash green Smackdown on one of my more used reels for three summers, this will be the fourth, and it still is vibrant green. I probably average 20 hours a week fishing between late April and mid-October. I do cut a few feet off each year but that's about it. Probably isn't as nuclear green as it once was, but it doesn't revert back to white like some of them do. Looking at you Spiderwire.... looking hard at you. 1 Quote
