I'm looking for recommendations for comfortable fishing shoes. I usually just use a pair of Asics cross-trainers, but by the end of the trip, my feet are killing me. I stand the entire trip, except running with the big motor. There's got to be a better option.

Looking for something light, with good cushion, doesn't have to be waterproof, just quick dry. Not looking for leather.

I've seen several Columbia and HUK models, but is there something else? Sketchers seems to have a lot of options. Don't want to spend more than $75

Any input it welcome. Tight lines!

I fish in Crocs, easy to walk in the water on bad ramps, very comfortable and hideous. I find them at TJ Maxx for 15 bucks whenever I'm dragged there.

I bought a pair from Columbia. They are super breathable, light and comfortable. Very similar to boat shoes for sailing. The soles have vents throughout to aid in air flow or drainage. I highly recommend them. I think I paid right around 50 for the at designer shoe warehouse. I’ve seen dicks and other places stock them as well.

You may find you get the best results not from a shoe, but an insole or insert. Dr. Martens, Superfeet, Dr. Scholls and others make them, and the construction is about the same for all of them. The results, however, are or can be completely different. I spent a loooooong time going through the different brands. I also found out that most brands need to be trimmed just a little bit to fit individual users perfectly well. For me, the results were better than new shoes, and maybe you will find out the same thing.

I also found out that it helped a whole lot to stretch my feet in the morning.

   Good luck!     jj

Thanks for the input. I use the gel insoles on my running shoes and it works great. For standing all day fishing, I think I need to get a purpose made high cushion shoe.

While I do not have a pair of the Soft Science water shoes, I do have a pair of their boots that I use to do yard work and any other heavy work. I have troll feet and degrading joints at the second metatarsal on both feet. Those boots are fantastic - probably the most comfortable pair of shoes I own for outside wear. I even occasionally wear them for backpacking, but they dont have an aggressive tread.

Check out Soft Science shoes. They're made for fishing. They are lightweight and comfortable and they feel like wearing slippers. The toe box is big, letting your toes spread out when you stand. Standing with your toes crammed together is what makes your feet hurt

interesting, thanks for pointing those out. May have to look into those!

Rugged sharks. They have slip on or lace up [Bill Dance] also sandals .  They are the most comfortable shoe I have ever worn.  About eighty dollars. I have never been able to wear sandals, feet hurt. Their sandals I can wear all day fishing. They beat everything else I own , born timberlin ,vans and fivenine.

You're welcome. If you get a pair, your feet will thank you

Looks like they've suspended sales due to COVID and are sold out most everywhere else I checked. They do look promising, will have to investigate further.

Don't know what size you wear, but there were some on Amazon

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm probably just going to have to try a lot of these out. The quest continues...

I have found that I have less aches and pains by the end of the day if I get away from the soft cushy shoes, and go with something that is a little stiffer and more supportive. I actually usually wear a pair of Salomon hiking shoes, specifically the X Ultra 3's lately. They have a speed lace system so they are quick to get on and off, and are very comfortable.

I got some boat shoes a few years ago at BPS, on sale for around $40.  Last year I got another pair.  The current issue of Bassmaster ( which I got today) has an article about fishing shoes,  They mentioned a couple of brands often enough in the article, made me wonder is this an article or an advertisement?   But I haven't tried the shoes, maybe they are ok shoes, or great shoes I don't know.

Crocs, either regular style or flip flops. Super durable, dry fast, won't stink when they get wet, pretty inexpensive, they float, extremely comfortable, and what other shoes are going to give you a sweet polka-dot tan on top of your feet?

These are what I wear if Im floating a river and/or for general out of water usage. Plenty of structure and grip and the speed lace system is phenomenal. I've been wearing a version of these for 16 years now and always have a pair or two in rotation. Salomon also has a water shoe if thats what youre going for.

In kayak or on a boat, Crocs are my footwear of choice.

I bought a pair years ago when visiting Disney. I was amazed how comfortable and quick dry they were. When everyone was walking around with wet feet after a rain I was dry and comfortable. Got my first and last polka-dot tan on my feet that trip. Sunscreen on my feet after that.

Bonus is they clean up from fish slime and fish blood easily.

Ordered a pair of the Columbia Megavent II. I'll post my impression once I am able to get out on the boat with them. Might be a while ☹️

Other option is to get one of those padded mats.  I had one which I used in my garage and ended up getting one for the boat.  I used the “hook” part of a Velcro strip and it would stick to my carpet and stay on.
