Any thoughts on the best “do it all” Dobyns rod?
Thoughts on all around casting and spinning rods from Dobyns?  Also feel free to throw in your choice of all around rod. Looking to purchase a new casting and spinning rod  ? cheers

Ok. So sportsman outfitters is having a 40% off sale. I can get 2 Dobyns Fury rods (703C and 703SF) for $143 w/ shipping included. Good deal?

The sale must be over on the Fury’s. They’re back at $119 on their website.

Thank you for the heads up. I just purchased my first Dobyns rod. I was also looking at getting an all around rod.  I am a shore fisherman so I only take 2 rods with me at a time. This means that they have to be able to fish multiple styles. I went with a Champion XP 684C.

If your looking into getting a Fury 734c, you might as well just get the Colt 734c, it's better than the Fury 734 for everything but Jigs, and this came straight from Gary Dobyns. Otherwise, I would say the Champion 734 is the most versatile rod for Dobyns. And, if your set on a Fury, I think the 703c is more versatile than the 734c, unless you want to throw over 1/2 oz.

I'm also an shore fisherman.  I wade fish so I usually only have one rod but sometimes use a second.  I'm using the custom inshore spinning setup for 1/8 to 1/2 (paddle tails)  and a 703 for lures 1/2 to 3/4 (popping corks/Carolina rigs/Corky).  I just ordered the 734 because I needed a little more backbone and I didn't want to bring the 735.

Thanks for all the feedback.  I appreciate it.  With that being said I also came across a few posts that say Dobyns rods fish a little lighter than the specs.  Is this true?  I may opt for the 704C for the simple fact that I could use something a little on the heftier side as my other rods are all MH.  Going with the 704C over the 734C as I am mostly fishing from the bank and having to store the rods in my smaller SUV.

I think the 703C & 734C are a couple good rod models.

I agree - a new popular one is also the 733C for chatter baits / spinner baits  (all graphite with tip flexibility with transition for backbone).
