Super User senile1 Posted March 28, 2020 Super User Posted March 28, 2020 I am still able to fish here and have been out the last three days. Water temps in the smaller lakes are approaching 48 - 50 while larger lakes are around 44 degrees at the surface. I am catching a few though it is slow. Campgrounds and public areas are closed but ramps are still open. Quote
Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted March 28, 2020 Global Moderator Posted March 28, 2020 Rained out this weekend, hopefully next weekend. Quote
The Bassman Posted March 28, 2020 Posted March 28, 2020 Our state like most others is encouraging us to get outside. We had temps in the 70's today before a cold front and storms. I had some real good action until 2:00 this afternoon when I got caught in a big storm with nowhere to go for shelter. My car was about a half mile away. Other than being completely soaked and bombed with marble sized hail I was very fortunate. This stuff wasn't supposed to hit until after 4:00. Had myself convinced that it was going to stay north of me. I tend to rationalize when I'm getting bit every few casts. Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted March 29, 2020 Super User Posted March 29, 2020 Nothing is much different for me. Plan to fish tomorrow afternoon out back as usual. I was out working on my dock a little while ago and a neighbor was coming in from fishing . They had caught 11. First time I’ve ever seen him out fishing. Almost nobody fishes the lake but me. Can’t understand why you’d even want to live on a lake and never fish. Quote
Luke Barnes Posted March 29, 2020 Posted March 29, 2020 What's funny Glenn is I read the city lock down order word for word specifically to see if I could still fish, and the answer is yes!! It doesnt prohibit outdoor activities for a single person as long as I'm 6 feet from everyone else. If you're 6 feet or closer to me while fishing there's going to be an issue on why you are crowding me and my spot, virus or no virus! Quote
Craig P Posted March 29, 2020 Posted March 29, 2020 We’ve been hammering the stripers in Raritan Bay NJ but now with the new attention to NY, NJ and CT, I don’t think they’re going to take kindly to people towing boats with PA plates. I’m going to have to get back to bassin in SE Pa. Looks like the bite is turning on for them anyways so I’ll make the most of it. Quote
Super User Log Catcher Posted March 29, 2020 Super User Posted March 29, 2020 Did get to go fishing Thursday. I managed to catch one bass around 12" or 13" inches long. Water temp was in the low 50s and very murky with maybe a foot of visibility. It was also very windy that day. Quote
Tizi Posted March 29, 2020 Posted March 29, 2020 In WA, fishing is shut down. Wouldn’t I get a ticket if I was caught? Quote
SEB Posted March 31, 2020 Posted March 31, 2020 I was placed on a work schedule designed to reduce exposure frequency in the work place, so I've had a lot of time off. I think I've gone fishing everyday for the past three weeks or so. Quote

I threw a black and blue short arm spinnerbait with a Colorado blade. Got no bites on it. My only fish was caught on a 6th Sense 100x crankbait in chartreuse blue. Quote
Luke Barnes Posted April 3, 2020 Posted April 3, 2020 Whatever works!! If throwing an action figure with hooks on it catches fish, then more power to you haha!! Quote

This is half the problem. People that don't know what they are talking about posting misinformation. None of this is true. Missouri is still encouraging outdoor exercise as long as you maintain social distancing. I fished every day this week except yesterday and today (too cold for me). Talked to game wardens and MSHP officers. Nothing regarding any requirements to stop fishing as long as you maintain social distancing. Now this may change as the liberal's keep trying to close us down. I drove to a local lake this morning, while out grocery shopping and there were 13 bass boat trailers in the lot along with a MSHP car. Quote
Super User Bird Posted April 4, 2020 Super User Posted April 4, 2020 The problem around here is actually to much fishing. Every lake I go to in the middle of the week, looks like Saturday due to people working at home or not working at all. Some of these lakes are very rural lakes in WV.....boats everywhere. Quote

Depends on the state, all have varying definitions of essential and what is allowed. Here in California, fishing is allowed but the state closed most public waters. For some reason, the big deal here is golf courses. Most county supervisors flipped a lid and demanded they be closed. Dumb. I do know Maryland has a lockdown on recreational fishing. Again, dumb. Hey - don't go blaming us for this...my 'liberal' governor specifically stated that 'hiking, biking, fishing and boating are all allowed' in an Executive Order. Oh, and this year's Turkey Season is still on as well...so the hunters are still good too. 1 Quote
bassh8er Posted April 4, 2020 Posted April 4, 2020 A guy I follow on YT from Washington can take his kayak to the lake but can’t fish out of it. It’s one or the other to me and I’m not political or a doctor. I get keeping people off the roads and at home but how can you let them out to paddle and not cast? Quote
