Super User DitchPanda Posted March 25, 2020 Super User Posted March 25, 2020 I'm a bank guy so I can't bring everything... I usually bring 1 or 2 tackle trays with 3 to 6 lure options... A couple bags of plastics... And usually 3 or 4 rods is all...I do love the days when all I bring is a jig rod and a spinnerbait rod with a couple extra jigs 1 Quote
Super User Bird Posted March 25, 2020 Super User Posted March 25, 2020 I don't carry much......but a lot of what I do carry. Lol Quote
Super User Angry John Posted March 25, 2020 Super User Posted March 25, 2020 Not near as many as I have and I stopped buying them 2 years ago. And I don't really think that I need any more the problem is I always run out of the ones I use the most Quote
DanielG Posted March 25, 2020 Posted March 25, 2020 3 ----------edited Someone reacted with a smiley face on the '3' post I just did. Actually I find that a perch or Chartreuse crankbait for bass, and a pale, 5 in a pack, at $2.99, from Walmart, swimbait for Crappy. Pickerel will bite on either. They're just mean that way. This winter I've made about a half dozen baits... my first ones, so my repertoire has VASTLY increased. I hope they work. 1 Quote
RAMBLER Posted March 25, 2020 Posted March 25, 2020 No more than about 5% of what I carry in the boat. Quote
BassNJake Posted March 25, 2020 Posted March 25, 2020 I carry a bunch of stuff in the boat, way too much stuff But April thru Oct I usually only throw 2 baits- A toad and a senko reverse rigged I'm all about that topwater blow up, but not dumb enough that I'll pass by flippin a laydown or some bushes Quote
Super User scaleface Posted March 25, 2020 Super User Posted March 25, 2020 The better the fishing , the fewer lures I use . 3 Quote

I've paired down my stuff too. When we fish from our canoe, I use two rods and a small plano tacklebox. I got tired of hauling around so much stuff, and I still catch fish. T rig usually gets it done 1 Quote
Super User jimmyjoe Posted March 25, 2020 Super User Posted March 25, 2020 If I'm fishing the rivers, I might burn through lots of different lures. The river can be tough to figure out, with differing water levels day to day. If I'm fishing lakes, it's 2 spinnerbaits, 2 or 3 spoons, and 1 or 2 cranks, usually a squarebill and a jerkbait. Color is determined by sky conditions. H/MH/ML is determined by my mood; the grouchier I am that day, the heavier I'll go. It takes me about a whole season to go through everything in my lure collection. jj Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted March 26, 2020 Super User Posted March 26, 2020 Please don't make all the lures/baits in my arsenal that actually make it into the boat feel bad. Just because any particular lure/bait in my boat doesn't get wet, doesn't mean that it doesn't get used. All the different baits in the boat, are used in a support role, i.e. they are considered, but for some reason they don't get wet. Quote

Kdizzle Posted March 28, 2020 Posted March 28, 2020 A variety tubes and a corresponding box of tube jigs in a number of weights and hook sizes, plus a variety of soft plastics, weights and different size hooks for split shotting are what I have on me at all times. I also carry stuff for wacky rigging stick baits, and ned rigs. I'll occasionally bring my jerkbait box on the rare occasions I break it out. I also bring line cutters, pliers, and hemostats for removing hooks from fish. And a couple different line tests of fluorocarbon for re-tying leaders since I use braid for my braidline on all m spinning setups. Quote
Super User geo g Posted March 30, 2020 Super User Posted March 30, 2020 I wish I could, but you can get them cheap from Walmart for about 8 dollars they hold plenty and when bank fishing your 100% hands free. They are as good as expensive ones I have seen from fly shops. I put weights in a small medicine bottle, 4 or 5 packs of different baits, scissors, plyers, hooks and that's about all I need. I keep moving around the lake and never have to carry anything in hand except one rod. I fish 5 days a week from the bank and weekends from the boat, this is by far the best setup for catching. If you want pics PM me a number and I'll send you pics. 1 Quote
bogfrog Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 Only one at a time, and the options are endless. I considered giving up fishing once, and Plano called and talked me out of it. Quote

I appreciate your willingness to share - I think I will stick with a backpack, but if you're changing baits on a regular basis I could definitely see the advantage of having everything in front of you. Plus you can have some for "after hours" like this guy if you want to flex in front of the ladies a bit Quote
YoTone Posted March 31, 2020 Posted March 31, 2020 I carry 5 on my kayak but in the end i throw my chatterbait 95% of the time. I really cant seem to slow down and fish anymore. I know it hurts my catch rates but the itch to pick up a chatterbait is so strong. I really need to leave it and other chuck and wind baits at home and try to learn how to fish slow again. Quote
