But no, they want people closed up in tight, boring places. (I'm going a little stir crazy here - there's only so many times you can re-arrange your tackle bags) That was the problem. Everybody thought it was a good place to get away from people and they had 30,000 visitors yesterday. 3 1 Quote

Things can get a lot worse in a hurry like they are in Italy or some of the other European countries that have imposed a complete lockdown. Be grateful for what you have at this time. The pet stores in the area had a 70% off sale on all dogs and cats to sell them all before closing shop. Our friends have a brand new puppy to help them through the shelter in place. 1 Quote

DanielG Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 In as previous thread I recently shared that our Governor from Maine, Janet mills an avid angler, waived the need for a fishing license... She said, "get out and fish". She is so, very cool. I just got this notice: Governor Janet Mills today directed Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Commissioner Judy Camuso to allow boaters to operate without a current 2020 registration and milfoil sticker until April 30, 2020. Boat registrations normally expire at the end of each calendar year. 3 Quote

Super User Koz Posted March 28, 2020 Author Super User Posted March 28, 2020 My son and I came down to Bluffton this weekend to see family and while here my dad now has to back in the hospital (not Coronavirus). My stepmother is not doing well so it looks like we’re going to have to stay here a while. I do get to fish some, though. But I’ve seen male bass guarding beds and the fishing has been poor. At least I can get out. I also have a new, really good gator story that I will get to later this weekend. 1 Quote

MacJig Posted April 4, 2020 Posted April 4, 2020 By golly guys, these are strange times we are living in I am 65 years old and have never seen anything like this in the entirety of my life. I live in NY and can still fish so I went out 4x in March/April and got the skunk trophy each time. I know we all have our opinions about what is going on. I know I do. But I guess in the long run my opinion is worth about as much as the few copper pennies I have in my pocket. I am concerned for the many businesses ( even those in the sporting/fishing industry) who are being so adversely impacted by the shut down of societies that recovery for some may never happen. There may be some very far reaching unhappy consequences through all this that go above and beyond infection control. If you can and desire to, go out and fish. I can think of no sport that incorporates social distancing quite like fishing does. Stay safe and stay sane. 2 Quote

Super User Koz Posted April 5, 2020 Author Super User Posted April 5, 2020 With the lakes, state parks, baseball fields, baseball training facilities, hiking trails, biking trails, and just about everything except grocery stores and gas stations closed down there's less and less to do around here. But today I sorted through some scrap wood in my garage and decided to start making a stand to hold my fishing rods. The wood I have is junk, so it won't be an indoor furniture piece but it will be functional garage unit. I have some decent wood I can repurpose from my son's old bed frame that I might be able to build something else with as well. I just need to figure out what I should build. The only problem is my router dies and that kind of limits what I can do. Quote
