This is starting to get old real fast. We've sheltered in place for about eight days now ever since SC shut down schools. I had to make a choice between work and family, and as a full time single dad there was no other option for me than to take care of my son.

The other day we went to some local baseball fields but they are all locked up because of the virus. We've hit a few state parks and done some hiking and fishing but so far the fishing here has been absolutely lousy. I've caught just one bass up here and it's not just me. Nobody is catching anything. To make matters worse it's cool and rainy here for the next few days. It is supposed to warm up later this week and we're going to try fishing some new, smaller lakes that have good bank access. The water is still too cold for my tastes to kayak and I'd bet most of the kayak rentals are shut down anyway.

We're stocked with food for a few weeks which is a good thing. We went on a quest for toilet paper the other day (we didn't find any) and none of the stores had beef, chicken, rice, frozen vegetables, or even frozen pizza. It was ridiculous how empty all of the stores were.

To make matters worse I've developed a cough and slight chest congestion but thankfully no fever. Thankfully, my son has no symptoms of anything. The doctor said to stay isolated. We've been doing that but all it takes is one trip to the store and you can pick something up. FWIW, I don't think I have the COVID-19 virus. It could just be the tree pollen that's starting to aggravate me. But I'll keep an eye on it.

I'm also sick and tired of the politics of this entire situation. Politicians need to just shut up and do teh right thing and stop jockeying for position for the upcoming elections.

Anyway, this is no fun but at least I can get outdoors to some state parks when the weather is good. I have no idea how city dwellers are going to cope after 4 or 5 weeks of being cooped up. How is everyone else here handling self isolation?

Quick reminder: No medical talk or politics please.

The gov just shut down the state (goes into effect on Wednesday).  But I'm not concerned. I'm set up to work from home, and have been for the past 3 weeks.  Just a minor hitch in the giddyup in the grand scheme of things.

We'll be fine.

Here in Ga you walk outside and pollen gives you Covid19 symptoms. Go inside and news is telling you more people are dying.

Being stuck at home is lousy. Makes us appreciate 'normal' alot better.

I work at a pulp mill, so were in full swing. I start graveyard shift tomorrow but thinking of burning some sick days. Just makes you wonder what's the right move.

Luckily I believe I’m still considered essential service. I would guarantee my customer this afternoon would say I was essential after I cut a dead possum out of their wall. I’ll spare you guys the photos

Our Grandparents were called to fight in world wars across the globe.

You're being called to wash your hands & sit on the couch.

I'm not. I'm out of a job and have a son with a lot of medical issues and medical bills. Unfortunately, due to his issues he cannot be left unattended and without school in session that complicates matters. I'm in between a rock and a hard place until this thing blows over.

Fishing used to be my outlet, but it hasn't been as fun lately. Baseball is a no go with fields closed, plus I'm getting a bit long in the tooth. My son throws 80 mph now and I just can't catch him anymore. I'm looking for a new diversion to get through the week.

I'm right there with you.

We're locked up tight here as well.

My Wife's in tough shape recovering from heart surgery last week and that comes on top of a plethora of serious auto-immune diseases.

So you know we're not going any where and No Ones coming anywhere near my home - for a while.

It's all good though.

We should be getting open water in a couple of weeks and 'state officials' are urging us to get some fresh air - I'll be casting.

Here's to all of this getting better for everyone sooner rather than later.

Sorry to hear about your wife @A-Jay last place I would want to be near is a hospital. I hope she gets better soon.

The irony here is my wife does work at the local hospital and she has been deemed “essential”  She runs payroll so all the doctors and nurses get paid.

Day 2 of shelter in place here. We got 8” of snow yesterday. I woke up my neighbors this morning with the sweet sound of a snowblower. Had to get the driveway done so my wife could get to work.

I am busier at home than at the job working from home. Worked a 12 hour day yesterday and more of the same when I punch in at 8am.

My heart goes out to all that can’t work and have no source of income right now. I hope this ends soon and things go back to the new normal. I say new normal as I predict much like after 9/11 we will never be the same again. New rules and laws will go into place to prevent things like this from happening again.

My business has  shut down . I'm prepared for months of idleness . As long as the grocery stores keep restocking and there is no hyper-inflation . My biggest concern is my Mom . Do I  visit her or not .  This is tearing at me . She is 83 with a bad heart . Shes use to me being there several times a week .

My wife has a compromised immune system. Since I work alone, I'm still working 3 days per week. My wife's mom is 91. We usually stop by several times per week to bring food, check.on her etc. Now, my wife has to stay home. I might have to do the same also. Uncertain times for all of us. Keep your chin up, and do the best you can. That's all we can do now

Wife here has a depressed immune system - so we're being very careful. In case of problems...Stevens 755a 12 gauge semi-auto.

I heard this morning that hysteria is closing in on the virus as the bigger issue.

We haven't hit bottom yet but strongly believe mid summer will see us trending upward.

Staying positive is much better for our emotional well being vs fear and panic.

Remember Y2K ?

I do.....fear displayed in epic proportions.

Keep safe.

That’s an incredibly bad place to store your dead possums.

He had stored himself right in the hollow void under the bathtub. I could see him with a flashlight and mirror from the crawlspace but couldn't reach it even with tongs. Luckily there was an adjacent closet wall that I just cut the drywall and pulled him out

Thankfully my job is still considered essential service and we have stayed pretty busy. I feel for everyone who has lost their jobs during this time. You can feel the tension in the air everywhere. In stores, on the internet....

Well, SC just closed all State Parks on Wednesdays and Thursdays. It probably won't be long before they are shut down completely. Our town also just shut down all local parks.

My fishing and hiking just took a hit.

I heard a story on the news last night about how dogs are enjoying this more than anyone else because all of their owners are so happy they are at home with them all time now.

Things can get a lot worse in a hurry like they are in Italy or some of the other European countries that have imposed a complete lockdown.  Be grateful for what you have at this time.

Right?

If only they'd store them on the highway shoulder like everyone else.  Rather selfish to keep all it themselves.

I just got word that Missouri has waived fishing permits from March 27 to April 15th. Trying to help folks who are short on money during the crisis. Of course, I already bought mine in late Feb.

You think they'd encourage people to take a walk in the woods as to distance themselves from others. But no, they want people closed up in tight, boring places.

(I'm going a little stir crazy here - there's only so many times you can re-arrange your tackle bags)
