Went to the small lake behind the old Ukrops grocery store in Bon Air, Virginia but the wind was blowing and it was in the 50's which meant it was cold so I went home after five casts.

I hate cold weather.

Anything under 70* is like freezing.

Now bring on the 90's and I am in seventh-heaven.

Maybe next week if it warms up.

At least I got to cast into some water!!! :respect-040:

Good job Sam!  I hate cold weather as well, I can't stand it!  This year is the first year that I have been fishing this early in the season.  I have been out maybe 10 times since ice out and I have caught a total of 2 fish.  I have been bundling up and getting out there.  I think being home from work and having my kids home from school has been a HUGE motivation factor to getting out there this early.

I love the cold weather fishing as long as it’s above 32°F. If there’s ice on my guides and my reel I lose my patience and have to give it up.
Most of the time I’m the Only person on the lake, and I have found a knack the last couple years for finding where the fish are when it’s cold. And it’s usually not where I’ve always been told/heard from other people that they should be. They might not always want to eat at first, but if you wiggle a worm in front of them just right for long enough they just can’t help themselves. Dink’s to giants, they can’t ignore an easy meal when the water is cold.

That said, I do love spring when the weather warms up and I can get back to using moving baits and don’t have to wear ten layers and carry hand warmers.

If the temp in the morning is in the high 30’s I’m good. When the temp is down in the 20’s I stay home. Afternoon summer temps in the high 90’s no problem.
