I must stop.

I’ve bought about 15 new Daiwas since December. I’m going to sell a couple probably. I don’t need 6 Tatula 100. Or 4 60th anniversary reels. Darn holiday sales.

I have a bunch I haven’t even opened the shipping boxes they came in yet: Zillion 10, 4 Tatula elite (2 of each), Steez CC, Zillion HLC, new Tatula SV TW103, and Steez Air. Once I test these, I’ll hone in on my favorites and sell the others. Wow, that’s 19 if I added right. Since December. Crazy. Oh, I forgot that near mint Pixy I found too. 20!

This has been brought a couple of times but cabin fever is setting in again and thought why not......

If you were going to buy your last reel ever and money was no object, what would you buy, why and what would you use it for?  Would you be completing an arsenal, buying one for a specific purpose, or just wanted this one reel for the fun of it?

I keep asking myself this question and the problem for me is choosing.  I have a few on my mind but can't decide as of yet.  Maybe with some of your thoughts, I might come to a conclusion.

I would love my hands on a “high end” Daiwa reel or another high end Abu Garcia reel. If it came down to be my last reel. Love my Revo MGX wouldn’t mind buying another one similar. Right now though I’m content with what I have. Don’t need anything this year lol.

And I thought I was bad when I bought about 6 new reels over 2018/2019 winter.  You are my new hero.  :teeth:

I've always thought a Stella FJ (or whatever the current model is) would be cool.  I owned a Sustain a number of years ago but really didn't notice much difference between it and the Stradic.  I own 6-10 Stradics of various models (Ci4+ and regular models) and have been very pleased with them.

I bought a 100B on e-bay several years ago and gave it some TLC: new gear set (probably unnecessary) fresh spool bearings, carbontex drag, 90mm aftermarket handle, and a Chronarch 50 Mg spool. Have considered selling it but I know I would have seller's remorse the rest of my life. They are very special reels.

I Added Smoothie drags and SS ABEC7 bearings ,but they are otherwise stock.  I had three until last year when a friend begged and begged me for one and I gave in and sold it to him.  I know what you mean by remorse LOL  My two are  10 out of 10 in appearance and I am now paranoid about getting a mark on them.

This one's easy. A Steez A TW and a few aftermarket spools, inductors, and springs. Stick a fork in it. I'm smiling forever..

My last reel would be a Shimano Calcutta.

I’d add a like new chronarch D - or metanium MG/Core w/brass gears and proper handle.

I haven't found a low-profile platform that does it for me like that frame, braking system I like over the 6 pin VBS, or gears like the non-micro module brass shimanos, etc.

Either a Cruado 51e or Metanium MGL. Work wonders. Work horses. Easy to service.

Some sort of Daiwa with a lot of parts compatibility.  Probably an SV103 TD Zillion, Steez TW/Steez A or Morethan PE.  Tons of spool options with different braking profiles and tons of gear ratio and material options.  A fleet of Morethan PEs in various ratios and spools on MB Destroyers would have me never wanting more rod/reel wise for the rest of my life.

Unfortunately I don't even own a single Morethan or Destroyer.  A little too rich for my blood. Daiwa Alphas' on Orochi xx's is more my speed.  TD Zillion/SV103 is also an option.  More ratios and spool options but a bigger and heavier reel.

Maybe soon, i might get a Morethan. That's a big maybe lol.

I'm good with what I got but I DO like the Morethan's.  That is a beautiful reel

I would go with a Shimano Aldebaran. I want a light baitcaster and something for throwing lures 1/4 to 1/2 oz.

I went and pulled the trigger on my bucket list reel- Daiwa TD Ito 103M. Actually two! One to fish with and one stock to...oh heck, probably use.

For whatever reason I’ve always wanted a TD Ito. Though my Steez A TW palms better, is smoother, and is probably overall a better reel... I bet I’ll catch more fish with the Ito. ?

Last reel!? Last reel!? @FishTank not sure that’s possible ?. A Bantam XgL HG was the “last one”, before that a Daiwa Zillion 100SHLA, so that’s a loaded question. But my answer might be a Daiwa 20 Zillion 10.0L at this point.

Currently as I shelter in place, I’m cleaning and upgrading with Carbontex drag washers my Curado 201I’s, with were supposed to replace my old B greenies. However, when “take care of your equipment and it’ll take care of you” is ingrained at a young age, it’s difficult to replace things that still work as if they’re new. So, I’m a thinking another purchase of Carbontex for the greenies will be happening.

Be well everyone

I've purchased my last reel several times, my latest purchase was a Daiwa SS SV, now I'm eyebaling a Shimano Aldebaran 50 MGL .....

If its truly the LAST reel it would have to be a Daiwa CV-Z. I believe I bought my first one in 1997 and have used it every season since. A lot of other reels have come and gone since.

For one reel to last the rest of your life durability has to be the main consideration.

I have a 3601zx. Frankly I’m disappointed with it for the price.  I think it needs a sync’d levelwind.  On the cast I can feel the friction as the line comes off.
