Hello

As the title say I’m looking for either a 2 piece or travel rod. I was wanting a 7’ 3” to either 7’ 11” heavy power with a lure rating preferably 3/4 to at least 2 ounces wanna use it for big topwaters ,pitching, small swimbaits, and just mostly anything around heavy cover, the stuff my medium heavy 7’ 1” won’t cover I was looking at the okuma Citrix but the lure rating it 1-5 ounces maybe it would work for 3/4 ? I would hope to also use this for pike and possible when salmon start running. If you guys have any help it will greatly be appreciated.

thanks

While searching, look for musky rods. St Croix makes a 2 piece musky rod but the least expensive they offer is the Premier at twice what you want to spend.

i was just looking a little more and found the premier musky demo rods for $160. I’ve held and fished the regular premiers they don’t feel balanced to me and I’m not saying they’re bad rods or anything I’m saying I don’t prefer them over other rods

thanks

I have the Citrix heavy and XH in the ttavel rod. The H will do what you want but isnt going to be the most sensitive stick for dragging soft plastics. Its freat for bigger frogs and I also use it for 3/8 oz spinner baits in heavy shallow cover.

So does it handle stuff under 1 ounce easy? And how does it handle stuff up to 5 ounces ?

Very functional for 1/2 ounce. One ounce it'll handle great. Over three it really starts to bog.

Cabela's Fish Eagle casting rod.  2-pc, Heavy, rated 3/8 - 2-1/4 oz lure wt.  I have this rod in the spinning version for certain saltwater applications.  Really nice.  On sale right now for $60.
