Super User ChrisD46 Posted March 21, 2020 Super User Posted March 21, 2020 Looking for new Super Fluke applications (besides the traditional weightless EWG 4/0 method) ... What are your other methods for using a Super Fluke besides weightless on a EWG hook ? Quote

Super User Bankbeater Posted March 21, 2020 Super User Posted March 21, 2020 When my flukes get too beat up to stay on the hook, I use them as trailers. Quote

This is one time deal for me, weighted wacky hook on the head. Fishing drop off 15-20’. It should work popping along rocky bottom. I don’t like fishing fluke any other ways but regular weightless. 3 Quote
jbrew73 Posted March 21, 2020 Posted March 21, 2020 Carolina Rig. I think the gliding and darting action of a fluke works great for this. 5 Quote
Super User ChrisD46 Posted March 22, 2020 Author Super User Posted March 22, 2020 Thanks for replies to date -if a scrounger head is mentioned then a super fluke chatterbait trailer should work too . Quote

Will Wetline Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 Last year I switched from Zoom Super Flukes to Z-Man Scented Jerk Shadz because they are far more durable. When retrieved for clear water smallies with a "snap" and a pause, expect it to be slammed a foot under the surface although you should be alert for the occasional fish that will suck it in. Since Z-Man's ElaZtech floats, glue a Zappu tungsten weight into the belly slot. 4 Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted March 22, 2020 Super User Posted March 22, 2020 Something that we do in my area is fish them on a small ball head jig. Rather than swimming it you hop it, let it hit bottom and pop the rod and repeat. The smallmouth will kill it like that when they won't even look at it when fished traditionally. 1 Quote

I saw this pic before I read who it's originator was, but I already knew in advance who's name I was going to see @Will Wetline I love this one, but unless I'm throwing this one pretty deep (which as I recall you are) unfortunately so do the pike here, especially the smaller ones. And they bite them right off - every time. #hateit A-Jay Quote

I tried it on chatterbait a few time and it only last a fish or two. Quote
Super User WRB Posted March 22, 2020 Super User Posted March 22, 2020 Tungsten nail weights (expensive) or Lunker City lead nail weights ( cheap) work good. Tom Quote

Super User JustJames Posted March 22, 2020 Super User Posted March 22, 2020 Might not have enough room to insert nail weight to the weight you want on Fluke. Quote
Bass Junke Posted March 23, 2020 Posted March 23, 2020 Want to try a super fluke on a Ned head. I was holding one by the nose with the tail straight up. The tail stands up pretty well. I am a new guy but here is what I'm thinking. If it floats or has a tail rigid enough to not flop over, I am going to try it on a Ned rig. If it's little and really "wiggley", drop shot. That fluke might be the first thing this season to find it's way onto a Ned head. Quote
schplurg Posted March 24, 2020 Posted March 24, 2020 Caught my PB with a White Pearl Fluke, T-rigged with a quarter oz bullet, but fished it like a jerk bait with very quick pauses. Unpegged. A foot or two beneath the surface in maybe 6 feet of water, from shore. Caught a lot that way last year. Edit: Three years ago those first few sentences would have been complete gibberish to me Quote
