jslaughter Posted March 19, 2020 Posted March 19, 2020 We have a local lake that is fairly small and maybe 20-30 ft deep right now at the deepest point. The ice just barley came off and I am itching to get outside and catch a few largemouth. My boat has been good to go for a few weeks now so Im ready to rock. Ive never actually been out to fish on the water in March as usually here in Utah there is still ice until the first week of April. Any recommendations on what to use and areas to target. Id imagine the water is high 30's, maybe low to mid 40s. but no more. Quote

JediAmoeba Posted March 19, 2020 Posted March 19, 2020 When you figure it out, let me know. It's been kicking my butt. I was open water fishing the past few days and I saw last year on the same day last year I was catching fish through the ice here in Pa. Quote

Hower08 Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 Jerkbait hair jig swimbaits vibes spoons. If you find weeds you likely found the bass. We often fish with 50% or more of our lakes frozen and will catch them sometimes right along ice lines. Ive boated atleast 50 bass since late January in water temps as low as 34 and up to 46 today Quote
The Bassman Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 Nobody's mentioned neg rig. Not glamorous but very useful. I'm in central IN and fish all winter when I have open water and the ned is a primary tool. Quote
jslaughter Posted March 21, 2020 Author Posted March 21, 2020 Thanks! I have a jig, ned rig, drop shot, and jerkbait tied on. Just didnt know if someone else used something outside the norm. I may have to try the silver spoon or a hair jig. Quote
