What about wheeler throwing side arm is a “roll” cast? Maybe it’s my fly fishing background but I see nothing rolling

geez...

I just meant he just did a little wrist flip/roll. Very little movement. There was no side arm cast...it just looks that way in the photo.

Just asking. Here’s what I think of as roll cast. Only works with super flemsy fly rods

Yep - Check this guy out. I wouldn't want to bass fish with such a rig, but... it shows how to achieve super accuracy.

The casts Angler Saito makes into tiny pockets are impressive! I love watching his videos.

Both are right. Roll cast has two different meanings depending on context.
