Well, as you might imagine, they died and stunk up the whole room by morning What’s worse than that is leaving river clams ( mussels) in your trunk like I did , and forgetting about em .Very similar to this: 2 Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 21, 2020 Global Moderator Posted March 21, 2020 We did an inventory last night of the cabinets, fridge/freezer, and deep freeze. I'm not a picky eater, I could make it for a couple months easily on what was in there. My kids would have to learn there wasn't an "I don't want that for dinner", option real quick. Got a few hundred shotgun shells, and a few thousand various other rounds of ammo. Getting plenty of hours at work, and still getting to get out on the water for now, I just wish all the panicky animals in the herd would calm down so the stampede could get back under control. 7 Quote
Super User gim Posted March 22, 2020 Super User Posted March 22, 2020 For those of you that live in a state that has declared “shelter in place,” what exactly can you and cannot do? I understand every state or even city may be a little different. To my knowledge, you can still go out and buy groceries, liquor, medicine, etc and go for a walk or exercise outside as long as you maintain social distance and don’t congregate in groups, correct? And another question, can you go fishing? Not like your going fishing in a large group of people, and I know a lot of people fish alone too, so I assume that’s ok. Quote

Just had a discussion on this with a local group. The Kansas City area is declaring shelter in place on tuesday.. According to the posted orders, the parks will remain open and outdoor activities are still allowed, with social distancing. There are no stipulations against fishing. I guess we will find out, where they draw the line. Quote

You are correct @gimruis that you can go to the store for groceries, work, and to conduct “essential functions” and you are encouraged to take a walk for exercise. As for fishing, here in California it’s a matter of interpretation. For instance, walking a bank casting a lure should be considered exercise IMO, and if you keep your catch a means of providing food. Not to mention it’s usually a solitary activity in accordance with the “social distancing” policy of 6 feet. However, on another fishing site somebody trailering his boat was stopped by the authorities because doing so wasn’t an “essential function” and told to return home. We are all living in uncharted times, and a lot of this is a gray area that we have to work through. And I know from periodically reading the “2nd Annual Ice Out” thread, a lot of BR members have been involuntarily practicing shelter in place for a little while ?. So I can understand wanting to go fish. Be well everyone 2 Quote

You got it pretty good guys. $3.25 for regular yesterday when I filled up the boat for I have no idea when I’m gonna be able to burn it in the pursuit of green fish. And yes like Washington, my fellow residents seems to enjoy adding taxes to ones fuel purchases. Be well ? Quote

We are under shelter in place here in NY. I was able to go shopping for milk and a few necessities yesterday. Walmart was open. Gassed up the car $2.30 a gallon here. I went fishing at the feeder canal trail. Caught nothing from the river but I was just happy to cast. There were lots of people out walking, enjoying the sunshine and fresh air no matter how nippy it was (39 degrees) Quote
Super User Bird Posted March 22, 2020 Super User Posted March 22, 2020 Appears mostly normal around here, lots of businesses running, stores open all State parks still open. Biggest issue is hoarding. Wife and I tried to buy a freezer yesterday for our youngest daughters house, this is here first home. Well every place we went were sold out , said it'll be weeks if not months. My guess is hoarders are using them as toilet paper lockers or maybe even hiding in them, kinda embarrassing really. Quote

I guess I’m mostly just wondering if they are going to say I can’t trailer my boat to the lake to fish by myself because it’s not considered “essential.” Quote

I could have launched my kayak but the water was frigid. I am being extra careful out there because the last place I want to have to go is the hospital. Quote

However, in California the shelter in place order originally instituted in the Bay Area counties was/is an enforceable misdemeanor @J Francho, not sure about things in New York. I think most local/ national authorities are looking for voluntary compliance in the spirit of the law before enforcing compliance to the letter of the law... Be well and look out for your neighbors Quote

Super User Bird Posted March 23, 2020 Super User Posted March 23, 2020 Glenn, just wanted to post this event today, some perspective maybe. 26 yr old son of one of my wife's employees was randomly tested for his job and tested positive. In his own words" I thought I had a cold " and required no medical treatment, hmmmm He is going to stay in the families RV for a while. Quote
