Curlyfishin Posted March 15, 2020 Posted March 15, 2020 I am looking on getting a new rod that I would use for jigs that are 1oz or smaller. I need some input on what a good rod to get would be. My price range is anywhere from 100-150 dollars Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted March 15, 2020 Posted March 15, 2020 1oz<jigs isn’t usually considered punching. A heavy power fast or mod fast action with appropriate lure weight range will work. Do some browsing with this in mind and if you see something that catches your eye check here for anyone with hands on. Quote
Hower08 Posted March 15, 2020 Posted March 15, 2020 I recently bought an ARK lancer pro 7'6 heavy fast haven't fished it yet but in the hand it feels like a med heavy rod. It's light as a feather and messing with it in the yard I could feel every little detail about what I was hitting. I paired it up with a curado k and 65# power pro. For $99 I don't know that I could ask for anything else. I went in the store planning on spending $200 + and left with the $99 rod if that tells you anything Quote
Cityangler7 Posted March 15, 2020 Posted March 15, 2020 Dobyns Fury 735 is a rod you could consider and TW has a deal on the right now. Quote
swhit140 Posted March 15, 2020 Posted March 15, 2020 I guess under 1oz could be a big variation between rods, I'd say figure what size jigs/flipping you're planning on using the most. Then figure what rod brand/specs are going to work out the best for you. You're going to have lots of choices out there to go through in that price point. Quote
bunz559 Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 I have a Dobyn's Extreme HP 805 that I use for weights 1oz and larger (sometimes pitch 3/4oz). I used to have a Powel Max 3D, but they're discontinued. Great rod for the money. If you're looking to pitch and flip weights under 1oz, I would suggest the Dobyn's 746. Don't own one, but I have a 745 that I use for pitching 1/2oz weights and it works great for that. But 3/4oz may be a little stretch for it after adding a bait. Quote
newyorktoiowa57 Posted March 19, 2020 Posted March 19, 2020 I am planning to uses a 7'6'' Heavy Expride for this technique. Quote
