Luke Barnes Posted March 14, 2020 Posted March 14, 2020 After reading on here about a SK Rage blade vs. A Zman chatterbait, I have both, I decided the rage blade would be best for what I was wanting to do, which is slow rolling it on the bottom. It worked haha. I caught a catfish on a lure for the first time! I've heard of people catching cats on cranks and spinners. Next I pulled out the ultralight with 2lb test for some gills and hooked into a bass. A good bass. It had the drag screaming and thrashing left and right. I thought for sure I was going to lose it. But I managed to get it to the bank and weighed it at 2.2lb. My biggest fish on the ultralight!! Overall a fun time! 5 Quote
MGF Posted March 14, 2020 Posted March 14, 2020 I've caught lots of cats on jigs...flat heads and channel. My father and I took a trip to a cooling lake and spent the day trolling cranks looking for walleye. I think we caught one walleye but we got a bunch of channel cats on the cranks. Quote

That's like I was fishing for small mouth and had a lipless tied on and caught a walleye!! Quote

My PB walleye was caught on a buck-tail (large in line spinner) fishing for Musky. You never saw somebody so disappointed to catch a big walleye. I've caught all kinds of stuff (including big carp) by junk fishing small jigs. Quote
Super User Sam Posted March 22, 2020 Super User Posted March 22, 2020 Yep, catfish will hit bass baits. Bowfin, pike, snakeheads, stripers, and other freshwater species with teeth will actually destroy your spinnerbaits and their teeth will cut your line when they hit your crankbaits as they swim off into the deep blue waters of your favorite lake, river or pond. The lipless I caught my first, and only, walleye on has teeth marks on it. I love it! I dont think there any other toothy species besides stripers where I live though. 1 Quote
