kiteman Posted March 13, 2020 Posted March 13, 2020 I'm in Texas, I guess not quite pre spawn time but I've had a lot of luck with some orange shallow-ish crainks. But nothing else is working. Jigs, swimbaits, not happening. Wonder if you guys recommend anything different out there! 1 Quote
Super User WRB Posted March 13, 2020 Super User Posted March 13, 2020 It's definately pre spawn in Texas about 2 months before (pre) the spawn starts. If you are fishing shallow the bass are more then likely deeper areas where you are not fishing. Tom Quote
Super User Scott F Posted March 13, 2020 Super User Posted March 13, 2020 Instead of looking for magic baits, have you tried different depths, speed of retrieval, different bottom content, different water, different sizes or different colors? Quote
Super User Catt Posted March 13, 2020 Super User Posted March 13, 2020 Where in Texas would be helpful ? Quote
kiteman Posted March 13, 2020 Author Posted March 13, 2020 Dallas area. I've tried the jigs on the bottom and cranks that go deep enough to scrape the bottom. But non of that is working for me. Quote
BassNJake Posted March 13, 2020 Posted March 13, 2020 Bass Pro tour is on Lake Fork - some of the fish are spawning there https://majorleaguefishing.com/event/2020-bass-pro-tour-stage-three-lake-fork-emory-tx/ Might be able to get an idea of what the pro's are doing this time of year in that area Quote

Super User WRB Posted March 13, 2020 Super User Posted March 13, 2020 Step 1 determine where the bass are located, pre spawn staging areas. Step 2 determine what the primary prey source is, most lakes it's Crawdads emerging from winter cold water locations. Strp 3 determine the depth at the locations the bass are most active in, trail and error by going fishing. The lure isn't the panacea to catching bass, putting the lures in front of a active bass is the key to success. Tom 1 1 Quote
Super User Catt Posted March 13, 2020 Super User Posted March 13, 2020 Your fish should be in pre-spawn/spawn so my answer is ya fishing the wrong areas. 1 1 Quote
