In the old days people used to kept their old Sears catalogs in the outhouse and used pages from them instead of TP.

Hold on to all those Bass Pro Shops spring sale flyers.

I don't know about all the medical/technical virus stuff...I'm not too worried about the virus itself.

But in MD all schools are now shut down for two weeks. Both my wife and I work and we have 2 young kids.  Thankfully we are both able to telework, but it's going to be a big challenge balancing child care and work while remaining productive at both ?.

Fishing related - As the President of a large bass club I actually have think about what heck we're going to do related to this, which is not something I ever thought I'd need to do :(.  We've got a tournament in a week and then a meeting and another tournament in early April.

My dad just reminded me about an old hunting club we went to when I was a kid that had a pile of phone books in the outhouse for toilet paper. Make sure you fold the edges because a paper cut on your butt is not pleasant.

The old Sears and Montgomery Wards catalogs were printed on 'newsprint' paper. Now-days, it's all printed on glossy, coated paper...not conducive to the use you've suggested...it'll just smear 'stuff' around.

Sounds spoken from experience.

This thread is killing me, lol.

We took a major drop - down to $2.40...which for us lately is a bargain.

I paid 2.43 yesterday. It's been 2.60-2.90

How about you supplying data to counter it that those measures listed aren't working? .

Especially since the various Health Departments around the world have JUST started clinical trials - or are only planning on starting soon...anything else is just 'guesswork'.

I would suggest sending out an email with the suggestion that those who are over 70, lifelong smokers or have existing health issues skip this tournament & meeting.  Everything else can proceed as planned, including anyone who is feeling under the weather (be it Coronavirus, the flu or a cold) taking the normal precautions to not infect anyone else.

And my kids laughed at me for still getting the newspaper delivered everyday.  A little newsprint on the buttcheeks washes off just fine...

$2.40?  Heck I've seen it for below $2.20 all over the metro the past couple weeks already.

Which part - remember I'm out by Wayzata, Orono, etc...the 'rich' areas. NE Metro I know is always lower...but that's a haul from me.

The county I live in here in Penna. has the most cases. My wife and I are doing ok. My two daughters have families and everyone there is fine. School districts are closed for two weeks for their kids. Same county. We are not preppers for the most part but sort of seen it coming over the last couple of weeks and stocked up on essential stuff.

Unless it takes a big turn for the worse life will be pretty simple and straight forward for a few weeks.  Leave for work > stop for gas or coffee (or both) > get to work, leave work > stop at grocery if necessary > head home.

Will connect with my family but not go to any Large gatherings. I shoot a lot of sporting clays and trap also but will cut it back for a few weeks. Pretty sure we will survive. Never know. I do not have to deal with mass transit or big numbers of people at work. But I guess that doesn’t mean a real lot in full scheme of things.

You guys be safe. I’ll be on the water soon and a virus is not gonna stop me. On the river or in the lake is probably the safest place to be.

It’s trending down here too......but not the ethanol free!
The lady at the counter said not to plan on it?

Same here ~

Which is disappointing really.

If the price stays under $2 once open water happens,

I may rethink my ethanol - Free ProXS plans.

Especially since the free is currently sitting at $3.29 . .

Boo . . .

Walmart substituted the toilet paper in our order for paper towels earlier this week....oh well, could be a lot worse.

We went from 1 to 3 testing positive here in Maine. Late to the party but I'm sure it will ramp up. Gas still at about $2.40

Maine has the oldest population and even though we don't have a ton of people, 80% of them are concentrated in two of the sixteen counties in the southern tip on the NH/Mass border areas. So, when it eventually ramps up it might get ugly.

Good news though.... If I go out my back door it's about 10 minutes to town... but if I go out my front door it's 20 seconds to a large lake. As has been the case lately, the ice is going out about a month early. Looks like it might be a week or two earlier than that this year. It's been a very, very mild winter with spring coming early. It's been that way for several years now but this year it's especially good. I might be getting the boat ready in a week or two. As I understand it... you can't catch a virus from a fish so, right now they are my friends.

I'm laughing but not quite grasping the sudden shortage of TP......someone enlighten me.

Why is this simple product in such demand  ?

Or is it a joke that simply slipped me ?

Toilet paper is apparently the last thing anyone wants to run out of in case of lengthy quarantine.

What is with the TP panic buying in mass quantities anyways?  This thing isn't a gastrointestinal issue, its a respiratory issue.  You're gonna run out of food a lot sooner than TP if the apocalypse starts.  I get the mass purchase of sanitizer but TP I just can't figure out.

Same here

I’m angry. My business has tanked because of irrational fear spread by news stations , internet etc. Only 40 people have died in the US. and I am sorry for those folks and their families but I’m living my life as usual. Better to live your life without fear and have a tiny possibility of catching this virus, or not live it and be scared of everything that comes along and eventually  die anyway. This society has become a bunch of wimps. I’m sure world leaders are watching this with interest.

Agreed - I'm not making any major changes to how I live...maybe a little more aware, but I'm still going out to do errands and such.

And in some cases - doing the wrong thing because it's 'expedient'.

Most people will be fine.  Staying put, and minimizing contact may save the life of someone at risk.  FL has 31 cases.  MN has 10.  I'm in NY, we have 325.  Glenn is in WA, with 457.  You can check your states numbers and get a ton of info over here:

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/cases-in-us.html

The site has been getting updates every afternoon.
