I am currently raising a pet Largemouth bass in a 65 gallon and will upgrade down the road when needed. But my question is, I wish to grow the bass as big as possible and then release it into a private pond(not a random one). I know aquarium fish should not be released in the wild due to them most likely not belonging in that ecosystem. But does that go for Bass as well if it’s a private pond and I treat the bass for internal parasites for awhile before releasing?

As long as the pond isn't connected to any other bodies of water and can't flood into another body of water you should be okay.

Just as a JFYI...It is Illegal to keep or sell bass ( game fish) in Calif. unless you have a permit from the DWF.

Personally, I don't why you would want to confine a game fish.

Does the bass already have parasites, or is the treatment to keep parasites away when it is released?  I wouldn't release any fish that already had some kind of infection because it might spread through the entire pond.

Birds like herons can spread stuff from one body of water to another one.

I was going to post this as well.  So, since possession is illegal, then release is as well.
