Dang I was hoping to be quarantined out in the middle of a reservoir somewhere warm, but I'll take BPS.

I am well past the age of 55. Can I still be part of the Quarantine?

welp

Old Timers Inc (me and my friend) have been sent home from our current renovation job due to the pandemic. we were remodeling a couple rest rooms and a few other little deals at a NASCAR vendor here in town. we just happened to be wrapping up the first rest room today when they gave us the news. the whole place is on lock down until further notice. load up your tools and we’ll get you back in here when all this is over. not to worry though, we’re both retired with pensions anyways and this is just side work for us. i really wasn’t crazy about taking on another big job with the fishing season just getting started. we have been slammed these last two years and now it looks like i’ll be spending more time on the water than i was thinking. ?

That sounds like good news.

When I retired all I wanted was a little supplemental work for gas money.

A kitchen remodel here, a siding job there turned into 40 hours a week so I simply quit and don't return calls.

Fulltime fisherman.

I’ve found two new jobs to fall back on if need be. One might not be viable until things are normal but the other should be good

I retired from construction about 10 yrs ago, and I still get calls, in fact, got one today. Like you, I don't return the calls.

The only time we went under our desks was during nuclear bomb drills, but they phased that out in second or third grade.

You must be close to my age ( 59 ) , I was just talking to a friend about that yesterday. I barely remember it, so it must have been 1st or 2nd grade.

Ya, I remember those - such fun

(60 here)

We had shared desks in my elementary school, and my 'best friend' and I shared one. Of course hiding under a desk with a girl would be a lot more fun now than it was then. ;)

44 but I lived in the city, maybe they did it here up until about 1983, but it was more often than fire drills.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT B

RAMP ETIQUETTE 101

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE

1. Have your boat ready to launch BEFORE you back down onto the ramp! This means having your straps undone, motor toter undone, plug in, a fully charged battery, your tackle organized, coolers, kids, boogie boards, pets, and anything else you plan on taking with you in your boat ALREADY LOADED **** IN THE BOAT.

2. Let mommy, or grandma, or sweet thing, or whoever else is with you, PARK THE TRUCK while you motor up and pull AWAY from the dock. You can then ease back to the dock and pick them up. FOR GOODNESS SAKES!

3. If your jet ski slides off the trailer and nails my boat the LEAST you could do is say SORRY ABOUT THAT or something to the equivalent.

4. Cruising by the ramp in your STUPID WAKE BOAT over and over and over again while people are loading and unloading their boats is, at the very least, STUPID - LIKE YOU.

Have a nice day ?

We can most likely expect to see many more inexperienced boaters during the week.

Where most of that "show" was reserved strictly for the weekends & holidays,

the free for all may go on like a Chinese Food Buffet; All Day & Every Day.

Serenity Now.

This is why I want this quarantine to be over: more boaters during the week.

I love fishing on weekdays. Mondays and Tuesdays are the best. You have the waters to your self until school would let out and then you have to contend with the pontoon boats, skiers/tubers, jet ski's and guys fishing for catfish.

Now it looks like the crazies will be released onto the water when the weather permits.

Yup ~

I've been seriously spoiled super early season -

No One Else on several of these lakes for at least 2 or 3 weeks after initial open water.

Pretty sure that will not be the case this time around.

It should be opening up here in a couple weeks, so I'm sure I'll find out.

May just mean I'll need to keep my "summer hours" on the water.

Get there and Leave, before they even show up to ramp.

Works like a charm.

Not so good for the sleep factor though - but I slept all winter . . .

that was my plan today. i got to the ramp before sunrise and the lot was almost half full already. i was fourth in line and two others rolled in behind me, all fishermen though, so no problem. the spots were biting and i fished til noon, but by then it was already mad house. the Lake Norman State Park ramp is typically pretty chill, more so than any other ramp on this lake. but today was a total cluster. smh
