TriStateBassin106 Posted March 9, 2020 Posted March 9, 2020 Finally got some open water today in NY, went to my local pond with my friend and his son and managed to get at least 4 hours in of fishing, the water temperature was at a solid 43 degrees and the air temp was 68F, started out by throwing around a Husky Jerk 8 in Clown at the side of the pond where the wind was blowing into. After an hour I switched over to a Finesse TRD skirted in California Craw, Skunked with a capital S. Anyone else find it extremely difficult to fish these types of days? My friend caught some shiners though hahahahaha 2 Quote

Super User Bankbeater Posted March 9, 2020 Super User Posted March 9, 2020 Those are the conditions I've been fishing. There's frost in the morning then it warms up, but the water is still ice cold. Quote

I really want the water to get back up in the 50s again, at least there's a chance to get some action before April hits 1 hour ago, TnRiver46 said: I would have tried live shiners He was using chopped up chicken to catch then on the bottom. Used an egg weight and just let it sat there for like 20 minutes hahaha Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 10, 2020 Global Moderator Posted March 10, 2020 It happens. Sounds like the weather was nice though. Quote
boostr Posted March 10, 2020 Posted March 10, 2020 Same here on Sunday, me and my son went out. I got bit on a 1/4 oz VMC Shakey Head w/ a Rage Tail Menace, but lost em when he went into a brush pile. Only action for 4 hours and chilli water. Quote
Super User Bird Posted March 10, 2020 Super User Posted March 10, 2020 I've been fishing all winter with several skunks and several 1 fish days. Fished a lake yesterday with water temp of 48* and in 4 hours, managed 1 fish on a TRD tube craw.......just think, it only gets better from here. Quote
