Best fish finder ~$1000

Hi all!

 

Got a new Nitro bass boat and now looking to replace the old fish finder.  Been doing some research but thought I would get other's opinions.  Anyone have their best recommendations for a fish finder around $1000 and why?

I'd be looking for the biggest screen I could get that has GPS DI/SI.  Probably a 7 or 8" model would fit the budget.  Don't forget a map card in that budget.

I’m a Garmin guy and I’ve used Humminbird. I have no experience with Lowrance. All three are great products from the research I’ve done. Do your research and educate yourself on the different units and what sets them apart from their competitors. The more you learn the better you’ll feel about your purchase and the quicker you’ll learn your particular unit. Good luck.

Yea been doing the research! I'm usually good with other products, but fish finders just seems like all three of those brands all pretty much have good fundamental features GPS, DI, SI.  It is more difficult to find how they differentiate without using them and comparing them to the other. Been looking at the Lowrance Elite 9 TI2, Garmin EchoMap Plus 93sv, and havent dont much research into Hummingbird.  I know it is probably brand preference for the most part, just looking to get the best feature set for the price range.

It's really a menu thing for me.  I've had Garmin and 'Birds, so that's really all I know.

Every time I get new electronics, I have this excitement about the revolutionary upgrade I expect.  I'm afraid that nothing I've seen or owned (Lowrances, Hbird and Garmin) below $1000 wows me as much as I wanted to be.  You're not going to get to that 'wow tier' under 1K, IMO, but you should consider getting a unit that can upgrade down the road to something game-changing for you....spotlock, or 360, or Live or something.  Getting touch-screen is the closest thing I've upgraded to that came close to meeting my anticipation excitement

I just installed a Lowrance 9 Ti2 on my boat a few days ago, haven't fished with it yet but just messing around in the garage with it and messing with the settings and screens, I am definitely impressed.  I looked at all three when I purchased mine and the Garmin was nice but the picture wasn't as crisp to me compared to the Lowrance.  Hummingbird was out of my price range, but I did look at it.  Nice unit for sure just more than I wanted to spend.

Elite ti2 9"

It's basically the hds gen 3 with a plastic screen instead of glass.  Wifi connection to other Ti2's is very nice if you get another down the road.
