Hi all ?

Wondering what fluorocarbon you use for Spinning reel and baitcasters.

I tried out several few years back for spinning and baitcasters. I liked Sunline Super FC Sniper Flourocarbon for my baitcasters. Really like how it performs! I’ve used Suffix fluorocarbon but it would tangle as season gone on. Not a big fan it’s just “decent.”

whats your fluorocarbon for spinning and baitcasters!? How is the Suffix Flourocarbon Advance? Seen it was new. Thanks!

I stick with Sunline shooter, or sniper..Tatsu makes a good fc line also.

I use Sunline Super Florocarbon on baitcasters for soft plastics and jigs. I don't use it on spinning reels. The floro lines I have tried didn't work well on spinning reels.

When I do use straight fluorocarbon on baitcasters I use Sunline Sniper. On spinning reels I only use braid to a leader.

I only use fluorocarbon on baitcasters. then it is sunline sniper or assasin.

No FC on spinning gear. On one  (and one only) baitcaster I use InvizX 12 lb. test. That's M/MF rod for cranks.  All the rest (all MH rods) I use Big Game mono. I use InvizX because I've had better luck with knot consistency compared to Sunline Super FC.    jj

For baitcasters I like 12lb Seaguar Invizx or 10lb Tatsu and for spinning gear, 6lb Trilene 100% FC.

How is the Trilene have they upgraded it? I know years past wasn’t great.

im looking to upgrade on my spinning line wanting to use a better FC. Why don’t anyone like Sunline FC on spinning?

I mainly use Seaguar if I’m using fluorocarbon, though I do use P-line tactical occasionally. I’ve had great luck with each different type of Seaguar fluoro from the cheap red label up to the more expensive stuff.

I’ve tried a bunch of fluorocarbon lines and I prefer P-Line Tactical on baitcasters and Sniper for spinning.

I have tried Sniper on spinning gear and it tended to jump off the spool and it also seemed to break easily.  I tried two different pound tests (6lb and 8lb), both were the same.  I tried the Trilene XL (sorry left out the XL version above) 100% FC and it just did everything I asked of it.  It's soft, casts well, durable, average stretch and invisible under water.  Also, the price is good.

I have yet to find a FC I have liked better on spinning gear than Trilene XL 100%.   I would pick a more expensive line but this one gets the job done.

I’m going to try it out. I Def know what you mean. Sunline isn’t cheap. To rig tons of poles with it would be costly. Thanks

Just in case, I like Sniper for baitcasters though.  It's pretty good line but I do like Invizx better.

I simply use whatever is on sale.  I have never seen a big difference in fluoro - it's all a PITA and I only use it for leaders.

Berkley vanish transition gold. 4lbs on 1000 and 1500. 6lbs on 2000 and 6 & 8lbs on 2500. The 8lbs is almost more of a pain than anything.  Not the most abrasion resistant but like the color. Bright gold out of the water and after about 6-8 inches in the water it disappears. Fishing over spillways I can easily see line movements even when not able to feel them. From boat or kayak on cast around debris in the water I can see the gold line drop and manipulate it easier. It might not be the best but works good for me.

I’ve used some cheap FC before & it was bad. I do think there’s a difference between cheap and expensive. I don’t use leaders. Don’t think I need them. I like one knot over two. I can tie those knots but prefer just straight FC.

Let me refine my answer...I only buy name brand fluoro.  It usually ends up being Trilene, Vicious, Seaguar and Vanish.  I know people complain about Vanish, but it's never failed on me.

Seaguar: Tatsu, Finesse, Invisx, and Blue Label leader.

Berkley Vanish.  It coils a bit, even after conditioner, but I'm used to it and it gets the job done.

I don't think it is just Sunline FC. It is all fluorocarbons for spinning. Fluoro is too stiff and has too much memory for  use on spinning reels (in my opinion). It likes to fly off the spool in large coils and continues coming off even after the lure has hit the water especially when freshly spooled. It slaps against the rod during the cast and really hates line twisting. That I believe is why your getting a lot of recommendations for braid to fluoro also.

Good luck,

I don't know if it's opinion or fact. Fluorocarbon can be a royal pia especially if you go to a heavier line. But saying that I probably have 10-12 spinning rigs with fluorocarbon on them. My exist is the only spinning with braid and it will be changed over this year. I break a lot of tackle off using the lighter lines but the trade off I usually limit out. I fish pretty clear waters and the fluorocarbon out fishes the braid. Yes I could tie a leader but I fat and lazy and one knot is enough when you break line 10-20+ times.

I've only got fluoro on one rig, and I've got that one spooled with 15lb AbrazX. I like it, but I don't feel like it accounts for enough fish on the hook to make up for its cost versus the Yo-Zuri copolymer that I have spooled on everything else.

Hey Russ, what pound sniper would you throw a 3/8 or 1/2 oz jig on around here?
