I made a large order of soft plastics, brand name stuff that makes the claim " floating " .

Well , I proceed to fill up a 5 gallon bucket up with water only to find these things RACE to the bottom, about as fast as a penny would.

These are several big name brand Neko worms.

So I'm back where I started with 1 brand that actually floats as all the ones I have could be thrown in an onion bag and make a great anchor.

Can anyone recommend a true floating Neko worm that actually floats.

Oh and can you throw it in water before recommended it. Lol

All the Z Man stuff floats in my experience. Might be a little harder to get a nail weight to poke into that kind of material but if you can those might be the ticket.

is floating really that important for a neko though? I usually uses a Senko for my neko’s and the nail weight keeps it upright very well it seems.

The Zman Floating Wormz float the best but rigging them is a PITA.  But once you get them rigged, they last forever.

Keep in mind, you want the ones without salt if you want a true floater!

Haw River Tackle bubblegum worms have fooled many, many, many bass for me. They float well on a 2/0 straight shank. A fun little subtle  topwater option and also an extremely effective split shotting/carolina rigging option that I just dont throw much because I dont enjoy the technique

Can't go wrong with z-man. If you want to try something different though, check out XZone Fat Finesse worm. Works well on a shakyhead but I imagine it can be deadly on a neko. It actually does float (the tail stands up) when I rig it on a football/shaky head. It supposedly has no salt but I'm unsure if its buoyant enough to just completely float if you were to test it at home. Xzone even makes an 11" floating ribbontail worm.

I really like the GrandeBass Airtail Stickbaits. These have an air chamber in the tail of the plastic so the tails float up.

Oh! Since these are heavily ribbed, they have increased surface area and when I throw them out weightless on a light finesse hook, they often sort of get held up by surface water tension but eventually sink. I normally fish them with a weight up the line by about a foot or so, poor man's Carolina Rig.

Here's a video of its action that I found on youtube.

Just a side note here, they're a nice little company and they've got great products. I love their slammer, swammer and craws too .If you want a more affordable option for any soft plastics you should check em out. They've been gaining a lot of traction lately.

I really like the Xzone MB Fat finesse worms but I wish they had better durability. They come 12 in a pack but I used half a bag in 2 trips to a nearby pond.

I started this thread over 2 years ago and since then, only use 1 worm for Neko.

Zman finesse wormZ.......stands straight up like I want.

Since we're now all here again, Z-Man has added a new floating worm, the SMH Wormz. I'm sure they would work great too! But no point in fixing what's not broken

Slightly off subject but have you used their swayback swimmer?  If so, how'd you like it?

No sir, I like their T-Worm, Mag T-Worm, & Lizard.
