Wildbillb Posted March 4, 2020 Posted March 4, 2020 Looking for a vise to use to tie jigs and feather trebles. Anything in particular to look for? Thanks Quote

Right now I am using the Griffin Spider vise and really enjoy using it, but it will run around $75. Quote
Super User Munkin Posted March 5, 2020 Super User Posted March 5, 2020 Since I only tie jigs I bought a $12 one from Cabelas. Allen 3 Quote
Mbirdsley Posted March 14, 2020 Posted March 14, 2020 This is what I use. I bought it in a fly tying kit from gander mountain. I think I paid maybe 20 bucks for the kit 7-8 hrs ago. Other than the book that came with it this is the only thing I have left from the kit. I’ve used it to tie Steel head jigs, buck tail jigs, dress trebles hooks, and what ever else fishing and tying related. Is it top of the line? No it is not. For what I use it for a couple times a year it is fine. It did produce a one time order of about 30 buck tail jigs though . Quote
Michigander Posted April 18, 2020 Posted April 18, 2020 To save yourself headaches later, getting one that can rotate the hook around is a feature that I would advise you to look for. I went to the hardware store and built a DIY vise for about $15. It's a little on the beast mode side of things, and certainly won't win any beauty competitions, but it can handle putting feathers on a little drop shot hook all the way up to a 12/0 bucktail for musky. 1 Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted April 18, 2020 Super User Posted April 18, 2020 I recommend that you get one that rotates. You can do a lot more a lot easier with it. I have a Dan Vice that I have been using for a long time. It has worked great. I have tied several thousand jigs with it. Quote
