Wulf N7 Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 I was just curious if anyone has any advice on fishing Pickwick in the winter? i've had great trips in the spring and fall but cannot for the life of me figure it out in the winter. I've had good trips fishing out on the main lake when there's a lot of current but otherwise it seems to fish really tough, but i see plenty of big sacks caught so it's pretty frustrating haha. Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted March 2, 2020 Global Moderator Posted March 2, 2020 When I was there it seemed like fishing the current breaks in the first few miles below Wilson dam was the thing to do. Granted, we failed miserably, but that’s what everyone said to fish and it’s where everyone was fishing. Tons of eddies, pockets, barge tie-ups, islands, bridge posts, etc. I’ve also heard tale of people fishing the lower end with deeper presentations in cleaner water. On other TN river lakes in winter , I like to fish the creek mouths along current seams And bluff walls. Someone will always be catching lots of fish with red crankbaits during the winter, I’m guessing you’ll see a lot of folks slinging them at the bass master classic this weekend Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted March 3, 2020 Super User Posted March 3, 2020 Both sides of the river below Pickwick Dam, but you will have to wait for the gates to close. Too much release right now. Quote
