That’s about the only jig I use. Because it is small. I have a real phobia about big baits. But in my old age over the last few years I have stepped things up to some bigger baits. I did pick up over the winter a few of the Iaconelli micro jigs for the same reason small in size.

I also mess with the Zoom stuff for trailers. What I find that works for me is I take a 4” Curly Tail worm, bite off part of the body and get the length I want to cover the hook under the skirt and fish just that soft curly tail.

I fish the smaller sized SK buzzbaits also (same phobia) and use the same CT trailer on them.

Same. There is a sweet spot where you can catch bigger fish while also catching a lot of fish, and that's where I like to be. I'm in this for fun, and catching is fun. I don't want to grind it out with big baits in the hopes that I can entice one big one to bite, and I don't want half my bites to be panfish.

I use these as my finesse jigs but they're a little pricier. For some reason, the bitsy bug is hard to find in tackle shops around here.

Try Walmart.

I've also seen a kit at Walmart where they sell a bitsy bug jig and like two or three trailers in a package for under $3.

A Strike King Bitsy Bug is my jig of choice for river smallmouth. I mainly fish the 3/16 ounce and bite off the first 2 segments of a Baby Rage Craw to shorten it for the trailer. I've also used the Baby Rage Menace Grub. This year I'm going to try the 2.8" Keitech Crazy Flapper as a trailer.

I think the BPS Spring Classic sale will have the Bitsy Bug jigs on sale for $1.51 this year. That's a pretty good deal!

I've used these on a ned head and a small weighted swim hook. Very small sample size, but they did well. I think you'll like them as a small jig trailer!!

What is the difference between the Bitsy Bug and the Bitsy Flip?  I looked, and it seemed like it was the line tie and beefier hook and weed guard.  Is there a big difference in the hook and weed guard?   How about hook size?  It also looks like the flip comes in heavier sizes, but still a smaller profile?  I am going to pick up a few of these to use as a second jig rod.  I think I will throw this for finicky fishing days as well as when I have to fish behind someone.  A little more subtle to hopefully grab some missed fish.

Bigger heavier hook, and heavier guard, and some different colors.

Thanks for the suggestion on the Crazy Flapper, that looks like a smallie killer here in our creeks. I'm going to order some.

I guess that's a pretty good deal, but Walmart has them for like $1.79 all the time.
