Ok... to the east coast guys - how come you don't pronounce the "H" in words like "Huge" or "Humid" but you do for other words like "Halibut" or "Hook?" (I mean Huk?)

I hear this and I say “What the ell?" in my best Fargo accent... ;)

"Ok... to the east coast guys"

The Yankee east coast guys, the Mid-Atlantic east coast guys, the Carolina and Georgia guys or those folks in Florida?

Not really a mispronunciation, but tons of people here call every kind of bluegill or sunfish a "perch" ? I hate it with all my being, but it does no good to correct them. Meanwhile, if they caught an actual perch (which there are very few of here), they'd probably have no idea what they were looking at.

It's a baby WALLEYE!

There’s a couple that drive me nuts

people calling rapalas Rap-You-las, idk how they can get the you sounds out of a word with only A’s but it happens around here

people calling line thread

people calling suicks swicks

people calling spinnerbaits spinners

people calling tubes squid baits

walleye guys calling largemouth green carp

people calling all lures rapalas, seems like every time I’m fishing in northern MN some guy will come up to me and ask what kind of Rapala their biting on today

People calling shimano Shaman-o

even heard a couple guys say st Croix literally how it was spelled, saying the x and everything. Took all my willpower not to burst out laughing when I heard that

Yes, that is the pronunciation! It’s the only brand I use that I have to wait for a sale before purchasing.

I am cheap. My kids raid my tackle boxes too. But I am seeing the value of owning lures that work well without any need for tuning or modifications. I may advance to higher priced lures one day.

I have a $25 Popmax that has caught well over 500 bass.  I've replaced the hooks a couple times, and it has bad hook rash, but has been catching for three years.  Hands down, my most productive bait.

It isn't a mispronunciation, but anglers, even some pros, that use the term structure when speaking about cover.

When they're actually talking about structure, they use some other term; "When you find structure on a point, it can be a fish magnet."  HUH????
