Greg Vinson leaked some new Scum Frogs set to be released later this year on his Instagram. Biggest takeaways are the Owner hooks and the upgraded paint jobs that you would get on a Spro or Booyah frog. More photos are on his Instagram.

They’re the only frog I use.
Don’t really care about the paint job.  As long as they didn’t mess with the way they’re made I’ll may try one.
Thanks

I used to work at the place in Columbus, MS that makes Scum Frogs, Southern Lure Company. The owner is a class A guy and was awesome to work for. Made a many of those soft plastic frog bodies back in the day, right after college.

He was always coming up with new ideas for frogs so not surprised he’s got some updated stuff coming out. Back when I worked there, he came out with an idea for a combo buzzbait blade in front of the frog. I came up with the name for it, the Thunder Toad. ?

Then he had another idea where there were 2 little frogs connected by a short leader. I came up with the name for that too, Two Tiny Toads. ? He like both names & I was surprised he used them. Not sure if they still make those 2 products. That was probably 26 yrs ago or longer.

Like I said, owner of company is a great guy and was fun to work with him.

I think a lot of people overlook this frog nowadays. While I have probably 10 different brands of frogs in my boat, the Scum Frog is right up there with my favorites. Great hook-up percentage. The Pro Series is my go-to. I also like that it already comes with a rattle inside (otherwise I usually stick bb's and tiny bells inside the frog's cavity).

My problem with the scum frogs and it looks the same way in the picture you posted is that the hooks are pointed up too much, which makes fro great hookups but if the frog turns upside down in any kind of lily pads forget about it that cast is ruined. But for sparser cover and open water great frogs IMO.

JT had some of the new design and color on his Facebook page. They look sweet, but the fish probably only care about the belly color.

Are the bellies not weighted?

For some reason I don’t have the same experience.
I throw the smaller original ones much more often than the “Pro” style in the heaviest of cover, either in the cheese, pads fields or whatever.

Granted, They will roll over if thrown into a fairly stiff wind but don’t think that’s exclusive to the Scum.
Still, it’s not enough of a problem to change brands.

I didn't have problems with them landing that way, but if they went by a pad that was out of the water a bit and caught the stem it was sometimes an issue.

The frog is called the Launch Frog. Watched a video having JT explain the features of the frog. I guess they added a tungsten internal weight for extra casting distance (hence the name). Also the tail weight sits farther back on the frog

I throw 5/8 Scum Frog Trophy Series Natural Black/Green almost exclusively.  I throw them into the heaviest muck mats possible with the highest arc on the cast I can get.  Those things land with a *plop* that is unlike any other frog I've used.  I let it sit there for a second and then give it a couple of pops in place.  That's usually when the blow up happens.  If not I start bringing it with pops and shakes.  Great frogs at a great price.  I hope Scumfrog is not chasing price point and starts changing them.  I don't care about Owner hooks and "Realistic Paint Jobs".  Where I throw them, they can't see them anyway.  The eyes come off, they get torn and look like hell, but they keep on chugging.  I'll let other guys pay 20 bucks for a frog.  I'll pay less than 6 and outfish them every time.  Not because I'm cheap but because it's a superior product that suits my fishing style and conditions perfectly.

When I lived in So. FL. and fished a frog every outing the Scum Frog Trophy Series in Green was my go to frog. I like how the back end sits below the surface. Between that and the softness of the frog I find the hook up ratios to be higher than with other frogs I've fished.  They aren't the most durable but the price is beyond reasonable so it's a trade off I don't think twice about. It seems the "upgrades" has driven up the price on this new offering.

Scum Frogs always land on the belly, and have the best hookup ratio of any frogs imho. They don’t look fancy but catch tons of fish, and hold up too, all at a reasonable price. I’ll be trying these out.

I forget what hook is in the 5/16oz original Scum Frogs. I was having some issues cast them on a heavy rod, so I switched to the Trophy series. Both the original and Trophy series have a 4/0 frog hook with the Trophy series being a Owner brand.

I'm with you about the realistic colors. I have the most luck with a white or a black frog. A single solid colors doesn't seem to be an issue.

In heavy wind, I'll push up the frog body to clamp on 1/2 of a DOA 1/8oz crimp weight. It helps keep the frog belly down and from flipping over.

I've got several missing skirts that still work just fine.

@Mike L turned me onto the Scum Frog, and it is the only frogs left in my tackle.

Yeah, I guess they do actually have Owner hooks already.
