BigShew2 Posted March 12, 2020 Posted March 12, 2020 I have, and really love, thes Lwws Custom Speed Stick squarebill rod. Great sensitivity, and fits a good job helping me worm the bait through laydowns. It loads well, on the cast and on fish. Quote
Super User Boomstick Posted March 14, 2020 Super User Posted March 14, 2020 I have a Daiwa Tatula Glass 7' M/R (MF) and 7'2" MH/R rod that I use for crankbaits. The MH will get the nod in grass and also most of the time for deep divers, but for everything else the M rod is awesome -- launches the smaller ones a mile and has a good amount of play in the tip. clemsondds Posted November 9, 2021 Author Posted November 9, 2021 Has anyone fished the 6'10M, 6'10MH and 7'2"M st croix legend glass? I like shorter rods for close range but 7'2 might be a little more versatile. Would primarily use it for squarebills. But maybe some swim jig and light chatterbait. Thoughts? Quote
PressuredFishing Posted November 9, 2021 Posted November 9, 2021 Im not picky anything that's glass or soft bend in it, I really dont need sensitivity or anything because the fish hook themselves when they hit cranks, I refuse to spend over 100$ on a glass rod as well. just my 2 cents. Quote

I own the 7'2" MM legend glass. Bought it earlier this year before ice off, loved the way it felt in hand with my newly purchased slx xt. I broke it in with walleye on a river and it was as sensitive as you'd expect st croix. Used it all season for bass with various cranks within the weight specs listed on the rod. It really upped my game when cranking and the extra length was unexpectedly appreciated when you find that fish following your bait and can give it that extra bump to get that last second bite. I had my reel spooled up with 12 lb invizx 90% of the year, i have since switched to sniper fc14 lb. I mainly used 1.5 - 2.5 size baits for this rod and it just gets the job done. You really won't regret it in my opinion. Quote

Super User king fisher Posted November 9, 2021 Super User Posted November 9, 2021 I use a 7' medium fast Diawa Ardito travel rod, with a Tatula CT and 12 pound Berkly Big game for square bills, and medium diving cranks. A medium heavy fast, Ardito for square bills over 3/4 oz. My flipping stick gets used for giant square bills over 1.5 oz. I only use 4 rods, so every rod does double duty. Quote
