Recently I broke my Daiwa Tatula CT (7:3:1) and now I'm looking to purchase a new reel(NEW or USED). I have been looking at some reels on eBay and found the Shimano Bantam MGL to be one option (used).

What other choices do I have?

There are lots of choices - I'd stick with something that said Shimano on it though.

Tons of reels especially if willing to go used.  I just got a new Bantam MGL for less.  You can find used Steez in excellent condition for less.  I love the looks of the Pro Ti, but the price is now $10 more than it was a few weeks ago.

New:  Tatula Elite.   Lew's has several contenders.  I've read some really good things about the Tournament Pro LFS.  Amazon has the Okuma Helios SX for $156.15 and the Helios TCS for $142.95.  I've an SX that hasn't been used yet, but I just know I am going to like it.  Nice looking reel.  I've never heard of Vandam Warehouse before, but they have a LH Patriarch 7.1:1 for $119.99.  I really like the Pflueger and Okuma reels I have used.  I know neither brand is popular around here, but I enjoy the ones I have.

I think that's an error. The LH version, which hasn't been available for quite a time, is the Patriarch 71LPL. Theirs is listed at the Patriarch 71LP.

Yup.  Picture shows right hand, but you can't always believe a picture because I think they just use a stock picture, not a picture of the actual reel.  Got my Patriarch when Pflueger had them for $80.  :D

What did you break exactly?

Any interest in selling some parts?

Yes, but it says 71LP, not LPL. I'm still going to call them to check. I wanted a lefty when that sale was on, but no dice. My brother got one Patriach and one Patriarch XT  during the sale in right handed. Both are fantastic reels.

Do you need a new one within the next month? If not maybe you could save another $100 or so and wait and get the new 2020 Metanium.

I'll freely admit I'm bias but you can't go wrong with any of the below brand new reels. Some of those are at the max of your budget, others will leave you with some left over cash to buy line or lures because Bait Monkey.

Curado DC

Curado K

Bantam MGL

Chronarch MGL

Curado 70

You have tons of choices under that $300 mark for a reel. I recommend Daiwa & Shimano, those are the 2 brands I have fished with through my fishing life. I guess it depends if you're just looking for one higher end priced reel or if your spending for a couple reels. You could nearly put 2 decent new combos together for $300. All my rods/reels I own were on sale/discounted.

With a budget of $300, you could get several cheaper reels.

Two curado K

Almost three tatulas at low online prices.

Or whatever else floats your boat.

You can get the JDM version of the Bantam around $300 with the current exchange rate.  Awesome reel.

Was just about to post the same thing. But I like japanlureshop.com better.

Got a Bantam for $288 with shipping and PayPal exchange rate.

With a $300.00 budget I would find two Tatula sv`s on sale. I currently own 3 of them.

I have diawa's, shimano's, and Lew's in my baitcaster arsenal. The Tatula sv reels are by far my favorite and most versatile.

That's a good idea. The Tatula SV, I think, is a great reel but the Bantam is a different animal.  It just depends on what the OP is using it for.

I have been pleased with both my Curado DC at $250 and my Chronarch MGL at $280.  Personally I would get a Bantam before another one of the other two if the price was right.  Digitaka has the Bantam for 261.

How the reel fits in your hand while mounted on a rod is important to me.  If you have a big fishing retailer nearby, I'd go get my hands on a couple frames.

For how I fish I would be hands down buying another tranx 400 or 300 if someone handed me $300. For traditional bass reels any of the Shimanos in that range you will be really happy with. I don’t have a bantom but I’ve used one and that is one sweet reel, same with ether chronarch mgl or G. I haven’t gotten into DC reels yet but I’m sure the curado dc is great with how awesome a reel the K is

Did you call to find out if it's a lefty?
